Chesterfield is a small town in the U.S. state of Missouri, located just east of St. Louis on the border with Illinois. The population was 1,839 at the 2010 census. Chesterfield was founded in 1814 by General Israel Putnam and his family as a stop on the new Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad. The first settler in Chesterfield was John Putnam, who arrived in 1814 from Watertown, Massachusetts. He built a log cabin on what is now Main Street and named it "Putnam's Ford." In 1821, he married Susannah Whitehead and they moved to what is now Parkview Avenue. Their first child, Isaac Putnam, was born in this cabin on July 4th, 1821; their second child, Mary Elizabeth Putnam (1825–1912), was born two weeks later on July 12th. In 1830 John put up a sign that read "No children allowed." This prohibition may have been motivated by religious beliefs or because some people thought white men were not capable of raising children well; however it did not last long and within five years all families had children living in Chesterfield. By 1840 there were nine families living in Chesterfield and eleven buildings had been erected including the Old Courthouse which stands today opposite Interstate 55 near mile marker 41st Street South. When the Kansas-Illinois railroad reached Chesterfield in 1854 it sponsored an Agricultural fair which drew many visitors from eastern Missouri to see American agriculture up close for the first time since before Appomattox Court House had become known as "the heart of slavery" around 1840! The fair continued until 1862 when it moved to Springfield due to war efforts being conducted at that location! Chesterfield also saw its share of excitement during America's Lost Cause Movement led by Colonel Nathan Bedford Forrest (1824–1913) during the mid 1800s when many locals sided with Forrest against General Ulysses S Grant's forces after their victory at Battle Creek outside Staunton Heights on October 15th 1863! Many residentsHelperFamilies pioneer settlers arrived during this time period trying to start fresh lives away from home after having experienced slavery themselves! One such family was Daniel Boone Herron (1792–1868), son of Elijah Boone (1768–1837) who immigrated to America overland wagon train transporting goods between Kentucky and Virginia while serving as captaincy cook aboard Hernando de la Vega's flagship San Felipe en route back across the Gulf of Mexico from California Ocean Springs circa 1788!! After hearing about Tennessee Valley Land Company land grants available for purchase near Cairo, Ira Herron purchased 640 acres northeast of town lot #906 off US Route 64 approximated current day corner lot #123 road south from city limits less than one mile east of intersection with County Road V – lots that became part of present day town boundaries approximately 1886’s survey mark

Chesterfield is a town in Randolph County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Chesterfield was founded in 1837 by John Armstrong and his family as a small log cabin community on the east side of the lower Missourian River. The name derives from an earlier name for Randolph County, Chesterfield Township: "Chesterburgh." The first settler to reside in what became Chesterfield was James Brownell in 1838. He built a Log Cabin on the east side of the lowerMissouri River opposite present-day Battlefield Park. Brownell's cabin served as a place of rest and entertainment for local residents until it burned down in 1840. The first water system for this area came into use in1841 when Daniel Emory installed an improved pumpjack located near present-day Main Street and Richards Road. In 1846, John Armstrong erected a dam across the river at what is now called Armstrongville to provide irrigation for his new farmstead which he named 'Armstrongville'. John Braidwood settled here about 1850 after moving from Illinois where he had been born and raised. His farmstead became known as 'Braidwood Manor'. During this time period many large families began settling around here including those from Kentucky, Tennessee, Virginia and Maryland who brought their agriculture skills with them to these new locations so that they could partake in Missouri's growing economy during this time period; however most manors only lasted a few years before being torn down or sold off again due to lack of interest or competition from more developed areas within Randolph County. In 1861, Confederate General Robert Ewell landed at Pea Ridge on July 12th with over 60,000 men seeking refuge inside Union territory following Confederate victories at Bull Run and Four Days Battles; however upon learning of General Ulysses S Grant's army movement northward he ordered his forces southwesterly instead expecting battle once he reached my region but found nothing amenable to combatting Grant's numerically superior force other than Fort Donelson inside Union territory thus withdrawing back towards Richmond; however ironically enough one mile west of whereEwell would have faced Grant had he moved south instead of westerly are today's homes line up along Richards Road commemorating one such instance where personal sacrifice by individuals ledto success against great odds- something that we can all learn from today! A little less than two months later another major event took place when Sherman surrendered Chattanooga rather then fight out a battle resulting in nearly 400 dead Americans & 300 wounded soldiers (many worse off than they were before)..thus effectively ending American Civil War hostilities within these borders!
