The Methodists built a church on Main Street which remains open today as First Baptist Church of Chesterfield MO; they also founded other churches including Second Presbyterian Church and Third Methodist Episcopal Church which stillexist today within the boundaries of present day ChesterFIELD. In 1840, three miles north of present day ChesterFIELD along I-70 there was an event that has been referred to as "The Great Famine". A group of men from nearby Pulaski County came down into central Missouri after hearing about reports of food shortages in Kansas City because of the American Civil War and discovered that most corn crop had been destroyed by frost during early summer months while others had been damaged by bad weather conditions such as severe thunderstorms or tornado damage). They began selling food from wagons they had rigged up with seats for people to sit inside so that they could sell any surplus goods they stopped running out of food at home but quickly realized this would only work if there were people who wanted to buy food from them since most people were too busy with other things around them during those days to stop by a wagonload full of fresh produce just to eat it! They eventually decided that this would be their permanent store location where they would sell all types of groceries including breads, candy bars etc.. This became known as "The Wagon Wheel Store" and continues on today as One Stop Shop n Grains located off I-70 exit 216A near milepost marker 215A

Chesterfield is a town in Chesterfield County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Chesterfield was John Hargrave who arrived in 1837. He built a log cabin on the site of what is now Chesterfield Elementary School. The first post office was established in 1839 and was called "Hargrave." A store and mill were established by Commodore John Fenton in 1840, and the name changed to "Fenton" in 1845. In 1847, James Connors settled here with his family from Greencastle, Indiana. The area around Chesterfield became known as Connorsville after him. In 1865, David Sather founded Sather Paper Mills here which remains one of the largest paper mills west of the Mississippi River today. The town also experienced growth due to agricultural production during this time including corn cribs for growing corn or other plants underground and threshing wheat along with dairying for milk and cheese production; however these days most of those activities are long gone from Chesterfield due to advances in technology and better transportation options

It was named for Colonel Chesterfield of Virginia who had come to the area to purchase land for his plantation after the American Civil War.
