Chesterfield is a town in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,848 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of St. Francois County. Chesterfield was laid out on a grant from Captain James Wilkinson in 1796 and named for Colonel Chesterfield of England who had come to America that year to become a land speculator. The first settler in Chesterfield was Daniel Dickey who arrived in 1806. In 1830, John Aiken founded the city of Peoria nearby which became Illinois' capital after General Harrison's victory over Andrew Jackson at the Battle of Peoria on October 6, 1830. After Kansas statehood in 1861, Chesterfield became part of Kansas and lost its seat on the Missouri Supreme Court; but it retains its status as the county seat of St. Francois County through an agreement between local officials and the Kansas Legislature. The community began as a farming village with 55 homes and six stores located along Farm Road No 4 near present-day Interstate 44 east of downtown Chesterfield proper; these early settlers were among those who migrated to what is now Wichita County when Kansas achieved statehood on November 3, 1907 The growth of towns throughout western Missouri during the late 19th century stimulated development around them (which occurred even before Interstate 44). This trend continued into the 20th century as more people moved westward into rural areas where transportation options were limited or nonexistent. One result was that many small villages merged into larger communities during this time period – including Chesterfield’s predecessor—the farming hamlet known simply as “Chesterfield” back in 1806 following Captain James Wilkinson’s donation to make it easier for new settlers to find workable farmland north of Springfield (at which time Springfield lay about 60 miles southoutheast). In 1909–10 Mayor Wm Hamer formed an outdoor swimming pool association with seven other townships across central Missouri organized under his jurisdiction because they found their pools unpaved or too shallow for their needs while they awaited funding from league commissioners appointed by Governor George Wallace to improve public swimming amenities statewide; within two years such funds had been secured and Pool District #2 was established with $5,000 from Hamer himself A similar response ensued when League Commissioner Hiram Sibley announced plans to build a new high school in 1913 despite objections from some "old timers" who claimed that schools should be built closer to home rather than Away Hill whereupon Hamer organized protests outside his office until finally approval passed two weeks later . Ultimately this decision signaled something different about how priorities would be structured across counties during this era: not just within individual jurisdictions but also throughout society as a whole . Schools would gradually become more important than water supplies and football games might continue until well into World War II . Despite all this progress however – due largely to advancements made by Forrester Elementary School Superintendent Mrs Jane Addams – there remained much room for improvement both inside and outsideof town center As recently as 1970s most residents still worked farm jobs providing subsistence income supplemented by occasional visits from friends or family members living elsewhere while church services took precedence over social activities locally Today most residents are employed either full-time or contractually via various businesses located throughout town including restaurants/cafes/bars/clothing stores etc… nearly everyone resides within walking distance either directly or indirectly depending upon one's employment opportunities

Some have been used as hunting tools, such as binoculars and spotting scopes; while others have been employed as military weapons, such as artillery guns and artillery rockets; or even home security devices, such as motion detectors and burglar alarms.

The first settlement in what is now Chesterfield County was made by Quakers on the banks of the White River in 1785. According to the 2010 census, Chesterfield has a total area of 24 square miles (60 km²), all of it land. The town started out as a small farming community with only 10 residents in 1800. By 1830, however, it had grown to around 100 people and had opened up shops and businesses such as a millinery store and tannery. In 1856, during the American Civil War, Confederate General John Buell attacked Union forces at Fort Donelson while they were besieging that fort; some believe that Buell may have been encouraged by President Abraham Lincoln because he wanted revenge against those who had supported him during the war effort
Chesterfield was originally founded in 1772 by a group of English entrepreneurs, led by Colonel John Chester. The town quickly became a center for fur trade and agriculture, and its economy relied on the production of woolen fabric and other goods exported to England. The town's growth stalled during the 18th century, however, as transportation methods improved and markets in England expanded. By the late 19th century, Chesterfield had regained some of its former prosperity thanks to an influx of new residents and development of industry. In the early 20th century, however, Chesterfield experienced another decline as manufacturing left the town behind in favor of suburbanization. Today, Chesterfield is a small community with few amenities outside of education and government services.
