Gun chokes (noses and mouth) were a common form of strangulation in the 1800s. They originated from muzzleloader rifles, where the shooter could place his hand on the back of the victim's head to keep him from breathing. By using a gun choke, the shooter could use his strength and grip to prevent someone from breathing. The early guns used muzzle loading ammunition which caused air pressure inside the barrel to increase rapidly, pushing warm air up into the shooters' heads and forcing them to fire quickly or they would suffocate. This caused intense headaches, dizziness, nausea and even death in those who didn't die immediately from asphyxiation due to lack of breathed oxygen. To reduce fatalities during muzzleloading rifle shoots, some manufacturers started producing firearms with smokeless powder that did not produce any gases that might cause an accidental death by asphyxiation. In 1876, Chesterfield residents voted for incorporation into city government. At this time, gun chokes were still an effective way of controlling people when they were in public places because it was difficult for them to get enough breath without dying from asphyxiation. Due to this fact and new technology such as gas masks and life Jackets that became available in response to World War II bombings, gun chokes are no longer used today in most settings outside of emergencies or warfare

Chesterfield is a town in Fayette County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,879 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield, Missouri Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in Chesterfield were the Potawatomies and their descendants who arrived from Pennsylvania in 1814. They built the first home on what is now Elm Street. One of the early settlers was John Chapman who came to Chesterfield in 1826 with his family and founded the first bank in town. In 1834, Dr. James Biddle bought land near where Elm Street now stands and started a hospital that still operates today as one of the most important healthcare providers in Fayette County. The post office was established in 1830 and named for General Nathan Bedford Forrest (1786-1834). In 1840, when Daniel Boone acquired much of this land from William Clark for $10 per acre (), he began developing it into what is now Chesterfield Township (). He set about building a new village which would include homes, barns, churches and schools; but due to lack of funds he abandoned his plans after only three years (). However, other entrepreneurs soon followed Boone's example and began development within what are now downtown Chesterfield and portions of present day Elmhurst Park. By 1850 there were over 100 residences within urban limits; by 1860 there were over 600 residents living within its limits alone (). A large cotton gin was erected by Hiram Cobb between 1865-1868 at Third & Maple streets.; this provided employment for many local farmers until it closed down around 1984 following heavy competition from larger facilities development across rural America (). In 1870 Isaac Newton opened a store on Main Street that became known as "Newton's Corner." This store served as an all-purpose grocery stop for area farmers until it closed down around 1990 following heavy competition from larger chains throughout eastern Missouri.). In 1881 Doctor J H White opened up his practice on Second Avenue which became known as "White’s Clinic." This clinic operated until about 1985 following heavy competition from larger practices throughout eastern Missouri.). Today Downtown Chesterfield contains more than 1500 housing units including some brand new buildings constructed since 2006 thanks to Kansas City’s “ revitalization program .” Most notably are two large mixed use buildings – One called The Inner Harbor developed by Pinnacle Development Company LLC., located just east of I-435 South just south of First Illinois Center exit off I-435S., features 10 floors with 570 beds (+/- 50% occupancy every month), 100 jobs +/- 3 full time equivalents (FTE)plus 2 bars/restaurants/entertainment spaces totaling 350 square feet with floor space for 1100+ guests; while also located adjacent thereto another large mixed use building – called Livewire Developments LLC., developed by Midtown Partners LP conditioned floorplates: 209 total surface feet +/- 9%, 5 stories high +/- 15% or so with 1300 sq ft or so pre worktaken upon startup including 8 story garage + 12 story towertotal parking: 1000 square feet (.50/.75 acre) [midtown heights]. There are many different types of gun chokes, but some of the most common are: trigger locks, hammer/trigger lock loops, manual (non-automatic) fire-control systems, and single shot guns with a magazine release button on the side. Trigger locks are a type of gun choke that is used to prevent handguns from firing by controlling the striker’s movement. Trigger locks use two pieces of metal to secure one end of the striker’s handle against movement while allowing the other end to be pulled back for cocking. Chesterfield is a small town in Pettis County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,571 at the 2000 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Chesterfield was founded in 1837 by Isaac Coleman and his family. The town name is from Chesterfield Township in Union County, Pennsylvania. The first post office in Chesterfield was established on February 14, 1838, and received its present name on January 15, 1840. The first settler in Chesterfield Township was John Denton. A large fire occurred on September 12, 1836 which destroyed most of the buildings in the village of Lancaster but did not damage the post office building or any other properties within the settlement. In 1861-1863 two churches were built; one called First Presbyterian and located east of town on High Street while the other congregation being organized as Second Presbyterian moved to a location west of town and took up what had been vacant space inside Lancaster Churchyard where they built a new church (now known as First Baptist Church). One hundred years later it still remains an important religious center for this community with over fifty congregations active throughout America including thirteen African American denominations including Pentecostalism and Seventh Day Adventism among others
