With regards to ammunition storage, it should be noted that both City Ordinance No 12-1928 as well as Missouri Revised Statutes § 571 provide for unlimited loading/unloading of firearms on public property without prior written consent of property owner(s). In 1836, the United States acquired control of Missouri from Great Britain; however, not all of it was given to Missouri Territory; Cape Girardeau County remained under British jurisdiction until 1839 when it became part of The Territory of Kansas.
