Bolivar is a small town located in Boone County, Missouri, United States. The population was 557 at the 2010 census. Bolivar is part of the Springfield, MO Metropolitan Statistical Area. It is home to the Bolivar Academy and Bolivar High School. The first settler in what is now Bolivar was Nicholas Saylor who platted the area in 1827. He named it after Simón Bolívar, the Liberator of Venezuela who fought for independence from Spain. A post office called Saylorville was established in 1828, and remained in operation until 1969. Bolivar was incorporated as a town on November 3, 1904. The original settlers were led by Colonel Daniel Harvey Hill and his wife Cynthia Bickerton Hill. They pooled their resources to purchase 640 acres of land southwest of present-day Bolivar from Jnoah Henson for $1,000 cash plus 10% interest per year beginning February 1, 1905. The community grew rapidly due to its location close to railroad lines and its easy access to water supplies that allowed agriculture to become an importantstay in boliver's economy; today some 25% of the town's residents are employed within the local agricultural industry. On July 21st 1907 a tornado touched down near present-day Bolivar with winds up to 200 mph (320 km/h). It destroyed many homes and businesses and killed six people; three women and three children were also injured when they were sheltering inside one of those buildings when it collapsed onto them outside minutes later because there had been no warning signal given prior to landfall! Today much has changed since then including increased competition from other towns adjacent via Interstate 44 which have sprung up around this rural corner just north of Springfield; however locally elected officials continue working hard providing quality services at a fraction of cost while maintaining close community ties with their citizens

Bolivar, Missouri is a small town in eastern Missouri that was founded in 1821 by John C. Bolivar and his family. The Bolivars were pioneers who helped start the city of Springfield within the present-day city of Bolivar. In 1831, they donated land to build what would become the first school in the town. The school was originally called J.C. & Sons Academy and later became Bolivar School District No. 1 High School, which still exists today as a public educational institution. The community played an important role during the Civil War because of its location on both sides of the river where Battle Creek ran through it. One resident, Captain James Hogg, lead a successful assault against Confederate forces at White Sands on November 25th, 1861, just days after Missouri had seceded from Union territory. Some residents also aided General Ulysses S Grant during his campaign against Confederate General Robert Eumedge Sherman on December 12th, 1862. In 1865, Bolivar was destroyed by fire when a train derailed while traveling down State Road 508 into the community; this event is often cited as one of the most devastating disasters ever to hit Bolivar County. Afterburner gas chambers were used to incinerate thousands of civilians during World War II in order to destroy evidence relating to Nazi war crimes; however, no remains have been found from Bolivar Township itself or any other areas within former German-occupied Belgium that were subject to burnings like those at worst-affected villages in Belgium such as Auschwitz concentration camp (1944). Today's population is around 100 people and most inhabitants are involved with agriculture or related businesses outside of their home townships or villages nearby; there are also few school children or adults who leave their homes for more than occasional visits these days due largely to economic reasons rather than fears about returning home anytime soon given current geopolitical conditions surrounding Europe and North America overall (eastern Ukraine being an especially relevant example).
