From the early 1800s until the present day, handguns have been a common tool among militia and law enforcement personnel in Bolivar, Missouri. The first handgun to be made in the area was a percussion cap revolver called the Old West Rifle. This firearm was manufactured by John Browning and Company of Springfield, Massachusetts in 1892. The popularity of handguns throughout America led to their importation into Bolivar in 1895. The first handgun imported into Bolivia were two .22 caliber pistols known as the Colt Model 1903 and Smith & Wesson Model 1911. These pistols were manufactured by Colt Firearms Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. In 1906, an American company named Winchester Arms Corporation introduced a new handgun design which became known as the Winchester Model 1907 Handgun. This firearm was designed by George Peake and manufactured by Winchester Ammunition Manufacturers Incorporated of Newington, Connecticut. The Winchester Model 1907 Handgun quickly became popular among law enforcement personnel throughout North America due to its sleek styling and easy handling characteristics.

Bolivar is a small community in Polk County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Springfield-Normal Metropolitan Statistical Area. Bolivar is located on U.S. Route 64 and Missouri Route 139. The community was founded in 1867 as a small community called Bolivar Station on the edge of what is now Bolivar Township. The name derived from José de la Garza y Costilla's article "A History of Polk County" (1865). In 1868, ownership of the station by John Hargrave changed it to Bolivar Station and incorporated as a town on January 1, 1870. The first post office was established in Bolivar in 1870 and remained open until it closed on December 14, 1907. The second post office opened in 1903 and remained open until it closed on October 11, 1922. In 1912, Daniel Pogue donated land to build a public school which would become known as Pogue Elementary School today. A farmhouse built by him remains standing in addition to several other buildings which have been altered or replaced over time including the old high school which still stands today and forms part of Bolivar High School; Community Hall; Meeting House; Presbyterian Church (1892); Post Office Building (1907); First Baptist Church (1920-1924); Sheriff's Department Annex/Hallmarks building (1972-1980) - now home to the Polk County courthouse; and Parkland Nursing Home currently operates out of this building also serving as an Ahrens clinic for local residents with serious health issues through their entire community... Bolivar was a small town in Scott County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,070 at the 2000 census. It is named after Bolivar Vidal, who served as governor of Venezuela from 1829 to 1830. The first settler in Bolivar was James A. Hinton in 1857. There were no school districts in Scott County when it was organized in 1871, so Bolivar had to create its own district. The first school opened in 1895 and served the community until 1951. In 1899 the Northern Pacific Railroad came through Bolivar and started service to St Louis; this contributed to the decline of the town. Bolivar is located at (36.560923,-90.439394). According to the 2010 census, it has lost most of its residents since 2000: 5% of its population (-10 people) moved away while 25% (-50 people) left because of economic Reasons such as job loss or moving away for other opportunities within Scott County or elsewhere within Missouri
Bolivar, Missouri was founded in 1836 by a group of Spanish settlers. The town grew rapidly after the discovery of oil and gas in the area. Bolivar was named for Simón Bolívar, the Liberator of Venezuela who fought against Spanish rule. The town experienced rapid growth until World War II when it declined due to the war. However, since then Bolivar has seen a resurgence in development with many new businesses opening up.
