The race track continued to be used until it closed in 1979. In 1951, plans were made to build a larger hospital within Blue Springs but this failed to happen due to competition from other towns inwestern Missouri that had similar sized hospitals. In 1984, construction began on what would become known as "The Old World" Hospital which would serve as one of the largest healthcare facilities in eastern Missouri Valley region during its time period with over 350 beds and over 100 medical staff members providing services to patients ranging from basic checkups to complex surgeries.
