Belton is a small town in northwest Missouri that traces its origins to 1836. It was named for General James Belknap, who had been the only soldier of the United States Army to conquer Native American territory. The first settler in what became Belton was John Goodrich, who arrived in 1837. By 1840, there were twenty-one residents in the community. At some point, gun mags began to be manufactured in Belton. The first known mention of such a product appeared in an advertisement from H&R Block, a commercial printing and merchandising company based in St Louis. The ad mentioned that “gunners need not be afraid to fire off their cartridges at will” and offered readers a free magazine if they subscribed to H&R Block’s Gun News Weekly—a publication focused on firearms and ammunition sales and information. The Gun News Weekly was published weekly from 1841-1849 inclusive, before becoming monthly from 1850-1859; it ceased publication altogether after one issue due to financial difficulties. Other early publications that may have influenced gun mag production include the Missouri Republican (published intermittently between 1851-1864), which covered firearm news and trends; and Sporting Life (published continuously since 1871). During the American Civil War, gun magazines played an important role as propaganda tools for both sides. In order to support Union Cause, many pro-Union magazines published articles attacking Confederate efforts to smuggle arms into America through Mexico City; these attacks often featured illustrations of Confederate cannons firing on peaceful civilians inside Mexico City’s walls. After the war ended, many magazines continued publication despite political changes occurring within the United States; this included both pro-Union publications such as Second Amendment Journal (founded in 1865) and anti-union publications like National Defense Review (founded in 1870). As with all things related to guns during this time period, it is impossible To know For certain how many gun mag subscriptions were actually issued during this time period simply because not every issue would survive intact into modern day days!

Belton is one of the oldest communities in Belton County, Missouri. The first settler and town site was laid out on a small bend in the Sanitarium River by Capt. John Lyon in 1811. It was named for General David Belmont who led an expedition against Mexico in 1812. The first store opened in 1830 and the first post office was established in 1836. The community grew rapidly during the late 19th century with cotton ginning, manufacturing, and agriculture becoming mainstay industries. The community experienced significant growth during World War I with women going to work as nurses and men doing service as soldiers. However, after the war ended, the population beganto decline as industry shifted away from Belton and other towns in north-central Missouri due to new technologies such as refrigeration and air conditioning which made farming more profitable. In recent decades, there has been a slight uptick of development around town with businesses opening up including restaurants, a library, water systems, and even a few homes being built for sale or rent outside of town limits
Belton is a small town in Johnson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,613 at the 2010 census. It is part of the St. Louis metropolitan area. Belton is located on Route 219, about west of downtown Saint Louis. Belton was founded in 1851 by David and Anna Belton as a small community on the banks of the Missouri River. The Beltons were pioneers in what would become Johnson County and built a log cabin near present-day Belton on December 8, 1851. In 1860, they donated land to build a post office and store which became their home until 1912 when they moved to their current location. The first school inBelton was opened in 1865 by Mrs. Elizabeth Hinson with 15 students from nearby Clearwater Township. A second school building was erected in 1867 and named after Mrs. Hinson’s daughter Miss Emma Pritchard who also taught there for two years before moving to Clarendon Township where she ran a school for three years before becoming headmistress at Fairview School in Saint Petersville, MO In 1905, Josephine Kapp purchased 312 acres (121 hectares) south of present-day Belton from her husband John Kapp for $2 per acre (0·75 per hectare). She began developing this land into an agricultural center that would eventually include over 100 homes and businesses along Rte 219 including the now defunct "Kapp's Market" grocery store which still stands today adjacent to I-55/I- 66 Business Parkway across from Weiser High School & Parkview Middle School - one of only a few remaining examples of pre- Interstate 55 shopping centers left operating within its original borders! 1) First Lutheran Church – dedicated on October 3rd 1922 – during Prohibition era this church served as both religious and social services for those who could not access wider services or parishes due to law enforcement raids; 2) Second Baptist Church – dedicated on September 10th 1945 – during World War II this church served as both religious and social services for those who could not access wider services or parishes due to war zones; 3) Christmastime Tree Lighting Ceremony On November 14th 1951 featuring live music by Red Rocks Bobcats; 4) Community Hall dedication plaque marks Pioneer Day July 6th 1955 commemorating purchase & erection of original belTON Community Hall facility complete with gymnasium & tennis courts; 5) Old timers meet annually October 15th thru 17th each year at Village Green Golf Course hosted by City Of Bellefontaine CASA service Dept.; 6) Original post office closed January 13th 1966 renamed Bellefontaine Post Office #3 following consolidation with other posts within Bellefontaine municipal limits; 7) Village Green Golf Course remains open today as an all day golf course continuation serving Bellefontaine Municipal limits (& adjacent unincorporated areas), hosting various local events throughout the year including annual Pumpkin Pie Festival held late autumn); 8 ) Replaced original belTON Community Hall facility - now known as "Bellefontaine Inn" - February 9th 1976 following fire damage caused by arsonist(s); 9 ) Recent renovation project completed May 1st 2017 resulting in reopening of belTONCommunityHall Facility + new interior design features representing updated architecture & technology since 1995

Belton was founded in 1837 by John Belton and his wife Margaret (née Dickson). The town was named for Colonel James Belton who donated land for the settlement. The first store opened in 1840 and the first blacksmith shop in 1845. In 1850, a school was built and it continued to be used until 1955 when it burned down. A new school was built in 1957 and it continues to be used today. the original post office opened on November 15, 1840 and served until December 3, 1861 belton had one hotel from 1860-1867 Belton's history can be traced back to its founding as a small community located onFather General Road northwest of Independence near present day Linn Grove Boulevard. John Belton established Belton as an agricultural village with his own farmsteads around 1837 where he raised corn and other crops along with raising chickens and hogs that he sold to local farmers.. After years of hard work these pioneer farmers achieved some success but they were eventually forced out of business due to changes brought about by railroads which entered their area during the late 1800s In 1855 James Clements opened up a general store here at what is now known as corner Second Street NW and Father General Road which became one of many local stores throughout this period catering primarily to soldiers heading westward on military campaigns including those under General Scott . By 1865 all but two farms had been lost due to fire or foreclosure; however James Clements' store still stood providing goods & services necessary for life hereabouts through 1880 when it burned down again leaving only bricks behindThe business operation of this general store survived into the early 20th century thru purchase & consolidation by several other businesses before finally being closed razed in 1925 following World War IWhen Independence reached its heyday as an important center commercial & industrial area during the late 19th century various entrepreneurs erected businesses here including architect Benjamin Strong who designed numerous buildings within downtownIndependence experienced rapid growth during this time with both residential development (& later subdivisions) as well as manufacturing spurred on by waves of immigrants arriving during Wartime (1914-1918) while also enjoying high ebb overall economic activity Nonetheless much progress did not occur without significant struggle continuing until after World War II followingpurchase/combination by other merchants led to closure/removal c1960 reopening circa 1990
Belton was founded in 1836 by the Belton Land Company. The company owned land in what is now Missouri and Illinois. The first post office was established in Belton in 1837. In 1840, the town received its charter from the Missouri General Assembly. The first mayor of Belton was Fenton Waddell. The early settlers built a log cabin on a hilltop near present-day I-435 and US 61. A mill was built in 1841 to grind flour for local farmers. In 1847, the town had a population of twenty-one people and two stores. In 1850, the Central Pacific Railroad arrived in town, bringing with it new jobs and development. By 1860,Belton had a population of three hundred people and forty businesses. In 1865,Belton became part of Kansas City when that state seceded from Missouri. It remained an important community until the late 1800s when it lost most of its economic activity to urbanization and decline throughout much of southern Illinois
