Belton, Missouri is home to one of the most significant airgun circuits in the United States. The city was founded by brothers Elijah and John Belmont in 1854, and has been an important center for airguns ever since. In recent years, Belton has become a popular tourist destination for shooters across the country. The history of airguns in Belton can be traced back to 1854, when two brothers named Elijah and John Belmont founded a small arms shop in what is now known asBelton. At the time, almost all firearms were manufactured domestically; this included handguns like pistols and revolvers, as well as rifles and shotguns. However, due to their proximity to St Louis – which was then the largest city in the United States – the Belmonts quickly became prominent dealers in airguns. Over time, other owners of small arms shops began to join forces with Elijah and John Belmont, forming what would become known as The Airgun Club. This group helped promote early American-made airguns through instruction and networking among potential customers. Over time, The Airgun Club also became responsible for manufacturing many of America’s earliest airguns – some of which still exist today! In 1907, Elijah Belmont passed away suddenly at the age of 82 years old; his brother John took over his business operations until his death 11 years later. During John’s ownership period, several important changes occurred within The Airgun Club. For one thing, membership fees had increased from $5 per year to $25 per year; this change alone represented a major increase in sales volume! Additionally, new equipment had begun becoming available for purchase from outside suppliers ( primarily European manufacturers), which made buying new guns even more convenient for members! Overall though, during John’s ownership period there were multiple improvements that led to continued growth within The Airgun Club: dues went up again (to $35 per year), new guns began becoming available on site (thanks largely to purchases by newly formed gun clubs around Cincinnati and Pittsburgh!), and membership totals reached upwards of 4500 individuals! John’s successors continued working hard at improving things under their leadership: by 1923 they had achieved establishment status within The National Rifle Association (!), acquiring certification from both NRA/Amateur Firearms Board (a body that actually regulated firearms) AND having built up an impressive collection of antique firearms! Unfortunately however – due largely to economic factors surrounding World War II – Membership levels dropped shortly after hostilities ended… but not before another significant milestone was reached: 3200 people had joined The Airgun Club by 1949!!! During these very sad times however – following Johns passing & departure from business *BEFORE* any major technological advancements were made within the industry* – several guys named Bill Broyles stepped up & started making some pretty amazing progress within THE AIRGUN CLUB!!! With today’s technology & standards we could arguably only dream about what THEY did back then 😉

Belton is a small, unincorporated community in Benton County, Missouri, United States. It is located on the east side of the Missouri River. The population was 1,026 at the 2010 census. Belton was platted in 1837 by two brothers, Amos and Levi Belton. The first post office was established in Belton in 1838. The community name derived from an Indian word meaning "a place where there are plenty of trees." The town's first school was built in 1840. A second school was built in 1843 but it closed due to lack of students. A gristmill and millstream were constructed around 1860; both became defunct until they were reactivated around 1990. Belton experienced a growth spurt during the late 19th century as railroads arrived to transport goods to and from nearby St Louis and Kansas City. In 1907, Belton had its own station on the Union Pacific Railroad's Fort Scott Branch Line. By 1912, Belton had become one of the largest communities on that line with a population of 2,500 people. In 1925, Belton merged with neighboring towns Beecher and Cottrellville to form what is now known as Benton County."Benton County History (1925-present)"> The merger resulted in increased social services offered by both towns which led to their decline over time."Benton County History (1868-1991)"> After several years of decline, however, BELTON'S COMMUNITY SOURCE FOUNDATION INCORPORATED registered for statehood on November 6th ballot in 1992.< ref name="BCN"/> On July 22nd 2009 BELTON VOTED TO BE HISSTITUTE COUNTY BY THE MISSOURI CONSTITUTIONAL COUNCIL. Belton is a city in St. Francois County, Missouri, United States. The population was 5,711 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of St. Francois County. The town was organized in 1848 and named for General Belmont, who had represented Louisiana in the U.S. Congress during the Mexican–American War and later became a general in the Union army during the American Civil War. Belton's history goes back to 1848 when it was organized as part of a larger settlement near present-day Independence on the Kansas River by Levi Coffin and his family from Illinois. The town quickly grew due to its location on an important trade route connecting Shawnee City along the Missouri River with Topeka, Kansas City, and other eastern cities. In 1850, Belton hosted a territorial convention which authorized annexation of what are now Mexico and Arkansas counties into Missouri; this event marked the first time that any municipality within Missouri had gone through such an annexation process. The town prospered through its role as a stop on stagecoaches traveling between Springfield (capital of Illinois) and Nauvoo (the Mormon center), as well as its status as one of many small towns located along Route 66 (now Interstate 35). In 1871, over 200 people from all over Missouri gathered at Belton's courthouse square to commemorate three hundred years of democracy being preached by Reverend James Stillwell Sr., founder of stillwell academy – one of America’s earliest secondary schools for girls – which then operated out of what is now downtown Belton. Noteworthy attendees included President Ulysses S Grant, Vice President Hannibal Hamlin, General William Tecumseh Sherman and others from across America leading up to that year’s presidential inauguration ceremonies at Washington D C . That same year saw another milestone for Belton when it became home to America’s first telephone line; Telephone Company #1 installed lines throughout town starting with hotel rooms on Main Street before extending service into commercial areas like Storey’s grocery store on Broadway Avenue.. In 1904, yet another milestone occurred when water main breaks caused extensive flooding that destroyed most buildings in downtown Belton but left many businesses open including Waffle House restaurant where Mayor Harry Fenton ordered pancakes instead of waffles because “we didn't want our citizens going hungry while they fixed their own problems!” A new brick courthouse was built following this disaster with plans to serve as both community center and court house until finally demolished in 1970 after decadeslong neglect by local officialsdue largely to budget cuts promoted by then mayor Tom Allaire despite significant public opposition%. The post-World War II era brought about dramatic changes forBelTON with suburban growth spurring development around interstate highways running through town while major projects like Gateway Mall were completed only after protracted negotiations between local officialsand developers culminating with an agreement signed by Mayor Allairein 2006that allowed Gateway mallto be built without affecting downtownbelTON's character or residents' access to essential services thereby preserving key aspectsof historicBelTON while creating jobs withinGateway mall itself..
