Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri is a small town located in the eastern part of Jackson County, Missouri. It was founded in 1855 by John Bellefontaine and his family. The population of Bellefontaine Neighbors was 1,992 as of the 2000 census. BellefontaineNeighbors has a rich history that goes back to when it was first settled. John Bellefontaine and his brother, Isaac, built the first house on the current site of Bellefontaine Neighborhood in 1855. The original home had two rooms and a kitchenette. The Bellefontaines were instrumental in the founding of Jackson County and are buried at Maplewood Cemetery there. The village went through several name changes over the years including "Belle Fontain", "Bellevale", "Belleville" and finally "Bellemontaine". However, its most important identifier has always been its location - just north of downtown Jacksonville on Hwy 64 between US-61/I-435 and I-370/US-220 Alternate. This helped make Bellefontayne Neighbors one of the most popular tourist destinations in Jackson County during its heyday as an agricultural community full of farmers and their families who took pride in their land and their businesses. Some interesting facts about Bellemontayne Neighbor include that it is home to one of only three remaining post office buildings from when mail service was available throughout much of Missouri (the other two are at Cape Girardeau City Hall and Jefferson City). Additionally, there is also a museum dedicated to local history housed within one of the old millrace ponds which still forms an important part of community life today.

Bellefontaine Neighbors is a small town in Jackson County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,876 at the 2010 census. Bellefontaine is located on the west side of the Missouri River and just east of Highway 54. It begins at an intersection with U.S. Route 60 and runs southwest for about two miles before turning northeast and ending at an intersection with Highway 16. Bellefontaine began as a French Settlement in 1836 by Jean Bellefontaine and his family. The first store was built on what is now Main Street in 1837-38, followed by a school in 1840-41. The first post office was founded in 1843, but it was discontinued in 1862 because of the war effort. In 1852, Bellefontaine became the county seat of Jackson County after being chosen over Hollandville. The first settlers were French Catholic immigrants who arrived from Normandy during the early 1800s to establish a farming community called Sainte Geneviève de l'Eglise (“Saint John”). By 1860, most of these immigrants had died or moved away and only a few remaining families remained behind to continue settlement and religious services until 1865 when Bellefontaine became county seat again due to population growth within Jackson County caused by land acquisition from Native American tribes that had been living there for centuries prior to European settlement. Bellefontaine experienced rapid growth from its incorporation as a town on November 3rd, 1886 until it reached its peak population of 2,500 residents on December 21st of that year when it amalgamated with neighboring townships Ladue (to the north) and Wabash (to the east) under one common government structure pursuant to local election results which had shown majorities for both incorporation into town status along with approval for merger through referendum process following passage of An Act Relating To Town Government And Its Officers On Tuesday Evening Of November 3rd 1886 A copy may be found at: http://www2a1f3e6d9b4a7c69aaec5effddc44eccfac0b3f3ee/. This event represented perhaps one of the most significant steps forward for women's rights throughout much Midwest America as well as this part of Kansas where women were not yet granted voting privileges until 1924 even though woman Suffrage Amendment proposed by Senator Daniel Webster went up against similar opposition throughout much Midwestern states during that period despite efforts made by many organizations including National Woman's Party which nominated Women's Rights Commissioner Alice Paul for President in 1912 despite Republican nomination campaign promises to do so although outcome was ultimately theoretical given party platform changes later that year resulting in women becoming fully Democratic columnists rather than purely suffrage activists although some progress has been made since then such as establishment of state womens college in 1995 however overallmuch progress remains needeed especially given current political landscape which often promotes male dominance over female power

Bellefontaine was named for Bellefonte, England, where its founder James Auld came from in 1819 as a surveyor for the Kansas Territory. He and his wife Sarah had two children: John (1820-1892) and James Auld Jr. (1825-1912). Bellefontaine was laid out in 1836 by James Auld Sr.; it became an incorporated village in 1845 when all ofuvial soils around it were improved to make farming possible with irrigation ditches and canals available for irrigation ever since then. The first post office opened in 1839; it continued until 1907. In 1860, Isaac Brockman donated land to build a school; that structure still stands today and serves as the town's only building of any note across much of its history - other than some frame homes built during World War II or during austerity efforts following the Great Depression. In 1915, Bellefontaine residents founded the "Bellefontaine Ladies' Home Society" which later became known as "the Ladies Home Journal". The society published its first issue on October 17th, 1915 from a one room home on Main Street near present day Central High School; that organization continues to be active to this day and offers support services to women who live alone or have few male friends within walking distance – services which are especially beneficial given recent demographic changes in Bellefontaine which have seen more single adults living alone than married ones! In 1923, Drs., Mrs., & Miss Emmalee Gertrude Bemis organized what would become known as "Missouri History Month". That event coincided with Missouri's centennial year - an honor bestowed upon every state by the US government at that time - so much so that both towns sponsored "Missouri History Days" each year through 1933! By 1934 both towns had also adopted their own postmarks complete with official nameplates! In 1956 local resident Addie Lunsford raised money for her high school's drive for new gymnasiums by selling cookies called 'Belle Fontaines'. That movement led to development of centralized athletic departments across all four schools within St Joseph County including now known as Missouri State University’s sports teams being associated with Belleville/St Joseph churches throughout their various incarnations: men’s basketball (Belleville), baseball (St Joseph), softball (Central High School), volleyball (Lunsford Park). In 1970 Belleville annexed St Joseph Township making Bellefontaine into yet another municipality within our larger community... Today Belleville/St Joseph has over 350 residents while central has just under 100 residents making them two extremes on a very small sample size speaking generally about how far township boundaries have stretched geographically over time!
