Bellefontaine Neighbors, Missouri is a small town located in St. Joseph County, Missouri, about 25 miles east of Kansas City on Interstate 70. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. Bellefontaine Neighbors was founded in 1858 by brothers Amos and Solomon Bellefontaine. Ammunition production began in Bellefontaine in 1865 and continued until 1903 when the plant closed because of World War I rationing. The Bellefontaine Manufacturing Company was founded in 1903 by James Manners as a subcontractor to Colt Firearms Corporation for ammunition production. The company produced weapons such as pistols and revolvers under contract with local law enforcement agencies throughout the United States. In 1936, Manners merged with Browning-Borgman Arms Corporation to form Browning-Mannlicher Arms Corporation. Mannlicher Ammo Productions was merged into Browning-Mannlicher again in 1984 before being sold to Remington Arms Company in 1997; Remington now produces all ammo under the name Remington Armory products outside of North America Ammunition production ceased at Bellefontaine for good after World War II due to American military shortages of nickel–cadmium batteries that could power firearms using these types of batteries (note: Nickel–cadmium batteries are not currently available from any producer). Instead, ammunition was produced with nickelsteel cells which had a much longer life span than traditional lead acid cells but required periodic recharge/replacement activities that often disrupted manufacturing schedules; this resulted in some older high-quality guns having short lives expectancy compared to modern firearms made with nickelsteel cells only .

They named their settlement Bellefontaine after Frenchwoman Madame de Bellefeuille, who had ceded her estate to them in 1825. Bellefontaine became active in local politics during the late 1800s and early 1900s. A number of members of the Bellefontaine community served as county commissioners, state legislators, and mayor or vice president of St. Louis County. In 1916, residents voted to annex part of neighboring Ballwin into Bellefontaine so that it could become more developed than its small population would allow. The population of Bellefontain decreased steadily until the early 1990s when an influx of new residents led to a dramatic increase in traffic and infrastructure problems in what had been a very rural community. This change caused many longtime residents to leave for greener pastures, and newcomers arrived with little understanding or appreciation for what had once been an enclave within oneof America's most populous cities

Bellefontaine Neighbors is a town in MO, United States. The population was 5,853 at the 2010 census. It is located in the St. Louis metropolitan area. Bellefontaine was founded in 1886 by farmers from near Belleville and is named for Bellefonte on the border of Webster County and Carbon County, Indiana. The first post office was established in 1888 and the first settler was George Aiken. The first crops were corn, beans, and potatoes but soon wheat and oats were grown as well. In 1902 the community had a Methodist Church built with gifts from Mrs. Sager, who also donated land for a school and other purposes. The town experienced some growth during World War II when construction began on what would become known as "Bellefontaine Air Force Base". The base housed military personnel and their families until it closed in 1991 after thirty years of service. After the war there continued to be growth with new housing being developed along Highway 64 which runs through Bellefontaine town center including two highrises completed in 2001 – One called "Pioneer Place" (now part of an apartment complex) and another called "The Towers" (now used as a daycare). In recent years there has been significant redevelopment taking place within Bellefontaine village including: an expanded shopping center complete with restaurants, movie theaters, banks, pharmacies etc., as well as several large homes being constructed that have brought many new residents to Bellefontaine over the past few years; more than doubling its current population since 2006 alone! In addition to this development much-needed infrastructure projects are ongoing such as resurfacing of roads inside village boundaries which will make passage easier for more cars each day; expansion of water system capabilities so more people can use it without having to leave their home; installation of streetlights throughout town so motorists know where they are going; work on creating improved drainage systems which will improve soil health around schools etc.; all hoping to bring about long-term stability & increased economic prosperity within Village while preserving its unique character
Bellefontaine Neighbors was laid out in 1837 and is named for Belle Fontaine, a Frenchwoman who had a home there. The community grew rapidly after the U.S. Civil War, with people moving in to build homes and businesses. The town eventually became a suburb of St. Louis and lost its character after World War II.
