Later additions included: a high school, several churches, and an industrial park adjacent to Interstate 64 which employed many early residents such as engineer George Stephenson and locomotive builder Samuel Morse.. In recent years much of what once characterized Ballsville has been demolished or replaced by new housing developments; however there still remain some older homes scattered throughout central Ballwin along Platte Road (between Second Street/Stuart Avenue and Third Street/Taylor Avenue). Today, Ballwin is home to several commercial businesses and restaurants as well as four high schools: Mid-America High School (which mascot is Chiefs), Central High School (which mascot is Tigers), Old Hickory High School (which mascot is Mavericks), and Wallis Hill High School (which mascot is Cardinals). There are also two parks in town - Union Park and Hiwassee Park - which provide Recreation Department services such as basketball courts and playgrounds for residents and visitors alike.
