Arnold, MO is located in the Ozarks of southern Missouri. It was settled by American pioneers in 1836. The first gun trigger to be manufactured in Arnold was a five-shot revolver made by Samuel Colt. In 1857, A.J. Fenton set up a factory in Arnold to produce triggers for handguns and rifles. By 1860, the town had a population of 300 people and guns were being manufactured there until 1865 when the arsenal moved to Springfield Armory where they remain today.

Arnold is a town in Phelps County, Missouri, United States. The population was 1,221 at the 2010 census. Arnold was founded in 1851 and named for General James A. Arnold of the Union army. It was named for General David R. Arnold who fought in the Mexican-American War and also served as Governor of Kansas Territory from 1861 to 1865. The first settler in Arnold was John Witherspoon who arrived in 1851. Witherspoon built a cabin on the banks of the Arkansas River near present day Arnold Road and built a small hotel which he operated until 1856 when he moved his business to what is now First Baptist Church Square across from Post Office Square. On November 5, 1857, Witherspoon's grandson Daniel Witherspoon organized a wagon load of lumber from Fenton Township and transported it to what is now Arnold where he cut it down and hauled it home himself using an ox cart. In 1860, General James A. Arnold made his home here after leaving his previous post as Mayor of Lawrenceburg (Kansas). He would later be elected US Senator from Missouri twice before dying in office at age 70 years old on April 14, 1904. In 1863, following the American Civil War, General David R. Arnett arrived here and became one of the first settlers with his wife Lucy coming two years later followed by their son Harry Arnett arriving in 1865 after serving as an infantryman with Company K 2nd Cavalry Regiment during the war which ended with victory for our side over Mexico City residents known as the Texas Battalion or Texan Rangers under Joaquin Crespo lead by Captain Emory Cooks) Following World War II many farmers left their homes behind to take up arms against communism because they believed that Communism represented good versus bad values which led to them becoming farmers again rather than joining military forces like their counterparts before them because they saw no value other than making money selling food products such as hay and corn instead of fighting for something greater like democracy or freedom There have been many changes throughout history that have taken place within this small town such as; most notably being completely surrounded by states since its establishment only consisting of Phelps County; having no city limits meaning that any new businesses or services that were started within town had to cross into neighbouring counties due to lack thereof; more recent times has seen people moving away from farming lifestyles towards more modern lifestyles but all these changes are gradually being replaced by newer ones
