Arnold is a small town in north-central Missouri, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. Arnold's history dates back to 1839 when it was founded by James A. Arnold and his family on the now abandoned lot known as Indian Ridge. In 1847, the village of Arnold was established by subscription from members of the local church. On November 1, 1870, a post office called Arnold was established at the intersection of State Route 168 and County Road 158. The first Postmaster General of Missouri, George Kapp (1850-1871), served in that capacity from December 1, 1870 to October 15, 1871. In 1914, Archer Manufacturing Co., a large producer of agricultural machinery and parts until its merger with Deere & Company in 1917 became one of the first companies to be incorporated in what is now Kansas City metropolitan area when it moved its manufacturing operations there from Durango, Colorado after city voters passed an ordinance authorizing incorporation on November 8th that year. Archer also built what is now KCMO's original civic center on Main Street in 1915-16 which remains one of central KSMO's most important tourist attractions today. The post office closed in 1984 due to low mail volume but reopened under new management two years later as part of MO Mail Services Inc.. The current name for Arnold Municipal Airport which serves Howard County is Arnold Municipal Airport - MOMail Services Inc." On February 24th 2017 Mo Postal Service announced plans to close all post offices across America effective July 17th 2017 citing low mail volumes and lack of support from customers who have received letter updates or notices via email about their post offices' closures notifying them through direct mail only 2 weeks prior to their effective date . This effectively ends over 400 years(!!)of service for many mo postal workers including many Arnolds who have paid $45 per month for USPS sent directly to their door since 1978
