The first gun grip in Southaven, Mississippi was a .38 caliber revolver. It was developed by Captain John J. Wharton and First Lieutenant George A. Hagerty of the United States Marines during World War II.
Southaven is a town in Jackson, Mississippi. The population was 17,834 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson metropolitan area and is the largest city in that area. The first white people to live in what is now Southaven were French traders who came to the area during the 18th century. At that time, it was known as Spanish Fort. In 1803, General Andrew Jackson and his army invaded Spain's territory and burned all of its buildings including Spanish Fort. This event marked the beginning of American expansion westward. Because Southaven was located on land granted by Spain to British merchants, there was more trade with Europe than with America until after Indian Removal began in 1830-32. As a result of this activity, many Native Americans learned English and became prosperous citizens of Southaven and other areas near Jackson during this time period. During Reconstruction (1865-68), African Americans lived together with whites in segregated neighborhoods called "ghettos." When violence broke out between blacks and whites following the end of Reconstruction, law enforcement action along racial lines led to increased terror in black communities throughout Mississippi over which officers had no control or legal authority. In 1898–99, an act of Congress gave new life to cotton plantation labor in Mississippi by authorizing Negroes to work on state lands for three years without paying rent or sharecropping fees; such operations were then considered "white" agriculture because most acres worked were within plantations run by white landowners who rented out their workers for wages rather than own them outright. During World War I efforts were made by President Woodrow Wilson (1916-1922) to interest Great Britain and France in buying Louisiana from Mexico so it could be turned into a military base; however these efforts failed because no one wanted anything to do with another country's ancient Mexican Territory that nobody wanted any part of! A group led by Mose Allison created a plan entitled “ Planters” which aimed at helping blacks become self-sufficient while living peacefully side-by-side with white men without having their social order disrupted or undermined – something few knew could even happen at this point considering how much integration had taken place since emancipation! In 1933 construction began on what would eventually become Ulysses S Grant High School; however due largely to budget shortages caused bythe Great Depression some classes did not start until 1934 due largely to lack of instructors available for these programs when needed! Despite this lackadaisical attitude towards instruction things quickly changed when Drs John A Huggins & James C York arrived from Dallas Texas as Headmasters providing quality instruction immediately necessary for many students struggling through poverty stricken families! From then until today Southaven has undergone quite a bit change but always remains rooted within its community values supporting education reform initiatives like No Child Left Behind as well as being ever supportive when it comes time for local elections ensuring continued progressivism here proudly!

In 1821, Southaven was founded by a group of settlers led by Major John Wilkinson. The town grew rapidly and soon had a population of over 250 residents. By 1830, the community had become a major cotton center and was home to the first school in Mississippi. In 1851, the town became an important stop on the Mississippi Central Railroad. Southaven continued to grow and become an important cultural and educational center until it was destroyed in a fire in 1892. Today, little remains of Southaven except for its Memory Park where visitors can tour historic homes, businesses, and churches from the early 1800s up to the present day.
