This led to the creation of Fort Hindsight on White Sands Island which would later become Ocean Springs Naval Air Station (ONAS). The air station operated until it was closed by order of President Nixon in 1976 without any public hearings or comment from citizens living within range of ONAS property or those affected by its closure. The communities that grew up around ONAS have all since been displaced by development in nearbyJackson County: Ocala AFB (the future home of US Airways), Gulfport/Biloxi International Airport, and Starkville/Ashland International Airport are among the most recent influxes into this rural community which has seen steady population growth over time despite low median income levels due to its isolated location close to nothing else but water-based commerce and agriculture

Oceans Springs was founded in 1836 by General Andrew Jackson as a military garrison on the Yazoo River. The 1,000-acre (45-km2) town was named for President James K. This would provide new opportunities for trade with Texas and other parts of the Southwestern United States; Oceans Springs would become one of the principal commercial hubs along the new line. In 1870, when construction began on the new line, Oceans Springs finally received its official name: Ocean Springs proper became Ocean City on July 15 of that year. The city's fortunes waxed and waned throughout most of the 19th century; but after World War II they revived somewhat thanks to federal assistance given it during the wartime boom in shipping traffic between Gulfport and Chicago via Lakeshore Drive. However, since then Ocean City's fortunes have typically been more modest than those of Gulfport or Biloxi – both larger towns located about an hour's drive away from Ocean City proper – which has led some people to argue that “Ocean City” should be considered an enclave within Gulfport itself rather than an independent entity separate from it administratively speaking. Despite these challenges – including declining population levels in recent decades – there are several factors helpingiverse businesses thrive in Ocean City over time: costal access (including excellent weather conditions), easy access to Interstate 5 (via US 69), and relatively low crime rates relative to other large U S cities."

In 1898, following Ulysses S. Grant's victory in the United States presidential election that year, Orientals supported Rutherford B. Hayes over James Kucinich in what was known as the "Great Black Vote". This event is often cited as one of the most pivotal moments in American history and helped Solidarity Party candidate William McKinley win reelection against incumbent Woodrow Wilson. However, within two years of McKinley's inauguration, many local businesses suffered through economic sanctions brought about by Ulysses S. Grant's Executive Order 8282 which aimed to expand federal power at home while minimizing state control over business affairs abroad. As a result of these difficulties, Orientals largely abandoned their city-based economy for more decentralized forms of production and trade beginning around 1920 when automobile ownership began becoming more widespread throughout America During World War II (1939-1945), local residents worked hard on building up military supplies dumps south of our city limits so that Axis forces could not damage or take advantage of our infrastructure during wartime operations . Many residents also contributed to patriotic initiatives such as sacrifice drives or carrying food parcels across country lines to Resistance fighters stationed overseas
