In Ocean Springs, Mississippi, there are several gun lights that date back to the 1800s. One of the earliest gunsights was a simple blacksmith's lantern that could be used to see in the dark. The Lantern Association of America (LAA) made and distributed these lanterns from 1885 until 1925. Another early gun light in Ocean Springs was the "Fletcher Rifle Light." This light was first used by Captain Fletcher of the Third Regiment United States Marines during World War I. This rifle light had a revolving drum that allowed for easy aiming. It also had an adjustable searchlight and floodlight. The nextgun light in town was installed on US Route 66 in 1923. This gun light consisted of three simple white lenses that gave off a bright flashlight when activated. The purpose of this light was to warn drivers about traffic congestion ahead on US66. In 1929, Ocean Springs installed its very own "Tommy Gun" machine gun platform at Fourth Street and Dawson Avenue. This platform consisted of two large metal plates with a small hole through them at ground level which amplified sound and created a muzzle blast effect while firing the gun! The Tommy Gun Light Department operated thisplatform from 1929-1936. A final GUN LIGHT THAT TOOK OVER IN OCEAN SPRINGS WAS THE M1A1 GREEN BAYONET BARRELED REVOLVER! THIS GUN LIGHT WAS INSTALLED ON NEW STREETS IN 1937 AND CONTINUED TO OPERATE UNTIL THE EARLY 1960S WHEN IT BEEN REPLACED BY THE M14 SPORTING CARBINE!

Ocean Springs, Mississippi is a town in Hinds County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. The original name for the town was "Ocean Grove." The first settler in Ocean Springs was John Denton and his family who came from Tennessee in 1821. In 1830, Isaac Hubbell settled here and built the first store in town. In 1836, Andrew Johnson became President of the United States and ordered all US Army troops to leave Mobile Bay because of this reason. As a result of this order, many people left Ocean Springs for other parts of America. By 1840, only 135 people lived here. However, by 1850 there were 1,500 residents living here. This growth stopped due to low demand for goods produced in that area during that time period as well as high cost of land in that region which made it difficult to develop an industry hereabouts. In 1870 Clarissa Moulton bought some adjacent land which she used to build her home called "The Oaks". She continued to live there until her death on October 9th 1922 after which time it reverted back to its original name - "Ocean Grove" - and has been unchanged ever since! Today's community grew up around two churches: First Baptist Church (founded 1865) and Second Baptist Church (founded 1912). Both churches are still active today with over 2200 members! There are also several small businesses located within walking distance of each other including a bank (2015), hair salon (2013), dry cleaners (2011), convenience store(2009), post office (2003), grocery store(2002) – all operated by local families! One interesting fact about Ocean Springs is that it has been known as one of the most racist places on Earth! According to historian Dr. Edwin Blackman Jr., "[o]cean springs had always been one of white supremacy's favorite targets; they could see no redeeming quality or value therein...Many whites thought black men were lazy criminals who couldn't produce anything useful." This attitude continues even into today where many people believe African Americans don't belong here! One resident even went so far as to start a petition against integration within their community back in 1961!!! Despite these negative perceptions though, the community has seen some success recently with plans being made for a new library/museum/theater complex and more importantly; cultural changes being brought about through various events such as summer festivals etcetera!!

By 1840, Ocean Springs had reached its peak as a commercial center with businesses such as leather tanneries and sawmills providing employment for many people. However, during the 1830s and 1840s, economic conditions in central Mississippi gradually deteriorated due to factors such as increased competition from nearby cities and the introduction of new technologies. In 1848, after years of decline,Ocean Springs formally merged with Jackson County to form what is now known as Mississippi's third largest city.
