From its early days as a small frontier town, Moss Point was known for its gun security. Gun violence in Mississippi increased beginning in the late 1800s due to numerous factors including homemade guns and outlaw gangs operating out of rural areas. As a result of this violence, state legislatures passed laws regulating handgun possession and trade throughout the mid-1800s. On July 1st 1870, Mississippi became one of thirteen states within the United States that ratified Amendment IV which banned any public performances or exhibitions without prior written consent from each proprietor or director; this amendment also prohibited carrying pistols openly on trains or boats within state borders

It is the county seat of Jackson County and part of the Gulfport–Biloxi metropolitan area. Moss Point is located on the Gulf of Mexico just east of Biloxi and west of Mobile. The first permanent European settlers in what would become Moss Point were French colonists who founded a trading post in 1763 on an island in the bayou called Petit Bayou. After three years they abandoned their post and returned to France because of pirate raids against their vessel, "Le Dauphin". When France became embroiled in war with Spain over Louisiana, another French colony established itself at Moss Point: La Salle built a fort here in 1768 after being expelled from Acadia by King Louis XVIII's edict that all British subjects be deported there. In 1814 Spanish forces under General Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna stormed into Mississippi and burned most of La Salle's town and plantation near present-day Pensacola Beach before moving on to invade Alabama. American troops landed at Pensacola Beach soon thereafter and drove off the Spanish invaders; as a result, La Salle's town was spared destruction but his plantations were taken over by American citizens and became known as "Santa Annas." A small community formed around what is now downtown Moss Point around 1915 when oystermen from nearby Biloxi started fishing for Chinook salmon using ditches that connect Bay Stbdt/Petit Bayou to Bass River (now called Grand Lake). By 1916 oystermen had replaced rapids as the primary means for shipping goods to Biloxi from Moss Point; this contributed to a rapid growth in business along B Street between State Street (then US 31) and Third Street during this time period which reached its peak by 1925 when more than 120 businesses operated along B Street alone. This commercial hub continued to grow through World War II until it was displaced by Biloxi after Pearl Harbor; however, some merchants such as Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney turned down offers from Japan to open stores inside Pearl Harbor so that her shipyards could continue producing munitions despite American air attacks during World War II which destroyed many Japanese ports thereby disrupting commerce throughout much of Southeast Asia. In recent years moss point has experienced decline due mainly to demographic factors such as high rates of poverty, crime rates & unemployment

This amendment helped increase gun safety awareness among Americans and has led to more prosecutions of criminals who attempt to use guns in crimes than ever before.

In 1857, it became an agricultural community and changed its name to "Moss Point." In 1916, Moss Point had 1 grocery store and 9 homes. By 1930, there were only 3 groceries and no housing units. However, during World War II the town developed into a military base with 13 barracks and over 50 buildings used for military purposes. After the war ended in 1945, many residents left for new homes across the state. In 2000-2001, Moss Point experienced some significant changes due to Hurricane Katrina which caused extensive damage to both the town's infrastructure and its resident population. Many businesses closed down including The Grosse Ile Bakery which ceased operations after being heavily damaged; mosspointonline dot com; post office #2; ExxonMobil refinery (closed September 2005); 95% of all grocery stores closed within hours of landfall; most factories closed their doors while they still could produce goods that escaped destruction such as gasoline cans filled with kerosene that started fires when hit by wind gusts up to 100 mph...over 400 homes were destroyed or damaged making it one of largest natural disasters in Mississippi history

Moss Point is located in Forrest County, Mississippi. The town was founded in 1819 by General Andrew Jackson and his troops as a staging post during the Red River War. The town name is derived from a local Native American tribe, the Mossy Hill People. In 1841, Moss Point became the site of the first cotton gin in Mississippi. It was also the location of the first commercial mission in Forrest County. In 1865, Moss Point was renamed for General Ulysses S. Grant after he succeeded President Abraham Lincoln as Commander-in-Chief of all Union forces at Fort Donelson in Tennessee.
