Moss Point, Mississippi is a town located in the southwestern corner of Jackson County, Mississippi. It is bordered by Yazoo County to the east and north, Stark County to the west, and Gulf County to the south. The population was 10,362 at the 2010 census. Moss Point has been inhabited for over 350 years. The first ammunition production in Moss Point was done by local farmers for their own use. Ammunition production began in 1857 when Confederate forces were retreating from Fort Sumter. A small factory was built on Monmouth Street and produced cartridges for pistols and rifles. By 1860, there were six companies manufacturing ammunition here: five in print shops and one as a private enterprise run by men such as J.H. Steele (the founder of American Arms). blacksmiths also developed firearms here including single-shot shotguns and muzzleloaders before 1900 In 1909 an armory was built on State Highway 21 just east of town to serve the needs of Army Ordnance Corps artillery units stationed there during World War I In 1949 Moss Point became part of Jackson County when it was created from parts of Stark, Gulf, Yazoo and Newton counties

In recent years, however, there has been an increase in development in this part of Jackson County including new housing developments and retail projects that have led to increased traffic congestion on US 81A street connecting town to nearby Roswell Park Township while also providing opportunities for pedestrians and bicyclists to enjoy the cityscape from various points within the town limits
