Gun targets have been a part of Meridian, Mississippi since the 1800s. The first target shooting event in Meridian took place on October 1, 1892. At that time, there were only shotguns and pistols available for personal use. Prior to this, target shooting was an activity limited to militia members and other small-time shooters. The first rifle target shooting competition in Meridian took place on November 3, 1896. This event was organized by A.F. Hutton Jr., who also opened the first handgun range in Meridian. Today, gun targets are a popular pastime in the city and across Mississippi. They can be found at many local businesses as well as online purchase locations. The popularity of gun targets has led to their incorporation into Army and Marine Corps ranges across the United States. In 2007, the National Rifle Association (NRA) donated $5,000 to help improve Target Practice Range #2 in Meridian which is now home to more than 30 NRA certified instructors teaching firearms safety and target practice for military personnel and law enforcement officers throughout the area! Gun targets are also used by high school students during spring break tournaments across Mississippi each year!

Meridian, Mississippi is a small town in the MS Valley region of the US. The population was 1,724 at the 2010 census. It is located on U.S. Route 49A and was named after Meridian, Alabama which was part of the original Louisiana Purchase in 1803. The first European to visit what is now Meridian was George Rogers Clark in 1807 who mapped out most of what is today Meridian and its valley. The area that would become Meridian was inhabited by the Choctaw people for many years before white settlement began in the early 1800s. In 1830, prospectors discovered gold near present-day Meridian and started trading with Native Americans here. By 1840, there were over 100 miners working in this area and local merchants began buying goods from these miners to sell back to their constituents back home. This led to some cultural clashes between whites and Native American residents as well as skirmishes between white settlers and Choctaw Indians about control of this important trade route corridor. In 1851, James Keney founded a ferry service across Mobile Bay from Fort Gibson to help facilitate travel along this important trade route corridor for traders and travelers alike (today’s Fort Payne). This service became very popular among traders due to its convenient location just east of downtown Meridian on an open stretch of water that could be crossed without having to go through Mobile or Baldwinville (which at that time also served as a major center for African American slaves). By 1860, there were over 2 dozen businesses operating within downtown Meridian including physician’s offices, banks, groceries, saloons and other businesses important enough for it to be included within the then newly created city of Jackson proper! Unfortunately during his term as Mayor (1861-1865), JK Keeny failed miserably in promoting development withinJackson despite repeated requests from businessmen throughout his municipality! In fact during his mayoral tenure some businesses closed up shop completely while others saw only modest increases in business volume thanks largely to new transportation methods like steamboats which had begun fishing regularly around Jackson Sound since its creation by Governor John Crain – another key figure behind organized cotton enterprise throughout much of antebellum Mississippi! It wasn’t until 1870 when Judge WN Broughton took office as mayoralty representative from Wilkinson County that real progress began inside Jackson proper with plans unveiled for developing what would eventually become Downtown Jasper – one block south of present day Main Street! During Judge Broughton’s terms (1871-1875), several hotels were built along Main Street such as The Crystal Palace Hotel which still stands today; both buildings reflect significant influences brought on by downtown Jacksonville development mandates during those years! Overall duringJudge Broughton’s two terms – downtown Jasper experienced substantial growth & transformation!! However unfortunately due courthouse construction costs spiraling out way beyond budget & competing demands on city coffers resulting in numerous “fringe projects” being undertaken instead + lackadaisical planning altogether; much progress was lost amidst increasing political polarization & sectarianism ensuing !! Finally under Mayor Reuben Hite (& later) things picked up somewhat but ultimately too little too late given rapidly changing economic conditions throughout post-Civil War America !!

Meridian, Mississippi is a small town located in Jackson County, Mississippi. Meridian was founded in 1866 by the merger of two other towns, Meridian and Lighthouse. The location of the town today was chosen because it is close to both the state capital of Jackson and two major river crossings. The town had a population of just over 1,000 people when it was founded. By 1870, Meridian had grown to a population of 5,000 people and by 1890 had reached 10,000 people. In 1930, Meridian became an official city and its population peaked at 15,500 people in 1940. However, as cotton farming began to decline throughout the country during the Great Depression, the city's population gradually decreased until it reached 8,500 people in 2000. Today, Meridian retains its small town status but has seen recent growth with development in new businesses and residential neighborhoods.
Merrill was founded by a group of settlers in 1810. The town grew rapidly and by 1830, it had a post office and population of over 100 people. In 1836, the town land was given to the federal government as part of the Louisiana Purchase. The following year, Merrill celebrated its hundredth anniversary with a celebrations that included an event at the former seat of Congress in Jackson.
