A cotton mill operated here between 1905 and 1913 before closing down because of competition from more efficient mills west of Memphis. A peanut butter factory opened here in 1922; it closed down in 1988 but reopened as Southern peanut butter company LLC today based out of Tupelo, Mississippi under that name among other businesses located there including a hotel/motel/restaurant complex which includes a theme park dedicated to Coca-Cola history with rides based on various locations used by Coke over time as well as an amusement park dedicated to American football which also features mascots for both teams).
