In 1907, L&L Firearms Company was founded in Long Beach by Leroy & Leonore Leeds with the goal of making quality firearms available at reasonable prices. The company’s products changed the way handguns were sold throughout America and it is still active today with more than 100 employees. This company started manufacturing pistols and revolvers as well as shotguns, rifles, pistols and rifle cartridges. During World War II, Long Beach helped produce guns for both military and civilian use. Many famous brands such as Colt, Winchester, Savage and Remington are known here because of their firearms produced here including M1 Garand rifles, Thompson submachineguns and carbines. After World War II ended in 1945, many factory jobs left town after being replaced by post-war production plants like those found in Japan or Germany. However, some businesses continued to operate until they closed such as Purdy’s Hardware where Gunther Purdy had been employed since 1904

In the late 1940s and early 1950s, large-scale production of pistols by two companies led to an increase in demand for handgun parts. One company manufactured alloys specifically for pistol manufacturing; this company became known as "Peregrine". After World War II, production switched back to lead-free ammunition which led to a decline in sales of handguns but not enough change in inventory so companies could produce new parts for older models. In 1957, Peregrine merged with another company who made alloys specifically for handgun manufacture - this company became known as "National Arms" or NASHVILLE GUNS.
Long Beach is a town in Harrison County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 4,811 at the 2010 census. The name "Long Beach" is derived from the Spanish word "long bay," meaning extended extending far. The first people to live in Long Beach were Native Americans. They came to the area around present-day Long Beach in search of new land to hunt and trade with. In 1824, one of these Indians, Manuel Lopez de la Fuente, founded a trading post near what is now Long Beach. La Fuente named his post San Pedro or Santa Barbara for the saint known for healing the sick and bringing relief to others. In 1827 and again in 1830, Mexican American traders arrived in Long Beach and established two more trading posts: La Bahia (later Bahia Blanca) near present-day East Street and El Grito (later Gutierrez) on Isla Hermosa about offshore from where today's Harbor Boulevard runs. These early pioneers were followed by white settlers after Texas became an independent country in 1846. By 1850, there were over 100 people living in Long Beach proper; by 1860, that number had increased to more than 300! The first school built in Long Beach was a log cabin owned by Mrs. Jane Wyatt on Rancho Los Alamitos just south of present-day Harbor Boulevard on the beachfront across from Shoreline Park). Mrs. Wyatt taught her five children how to read and write using cedar logs as teaching tools before she died in 1875 at age 73 years old due to tuberculosis contracted while teaching her students at Rancho Los Alamitos School #1 (now Harbor Boulevard & North First Street). As early as 1876 local newspaper editor James Auld published an article reporting that “the Methodists have erected a schoolhouse” north of Gasconade Creek—an event which led quickly thereafter to other churches setting up schools throughout town—“to instruct our colored citizens [in] reading, writing and arithmetic”! In 1880 William Fenton bought lands east of present day Harbor Boulevard including portions now occupied by downtownLongBeach
