In retaliation for this military action, Jackson awarded General Earl Van Dorn two thousand acres (1 km²) north of Indianola Landing on Clearwater River for his victory over Butler at Tupelo Bend on July 5, 1864; this land later became part as part of Jacksonville Beach Community Park developments adjacent to I-10 Exit 163A just past exit 164B off US 11 South near FM 285 West after Old Hammonds Ferry Road bridges crossed over both rivers there.)
