In 1934, Winchester Repeating Arms Company sold Indianola Ammunition to Brownells Incorporated. Brownells Incorporated continued to sell Indianolan ammunition until it closed in 1984.
Indianola, Mississippi is a small town in Jackson County, Mississippi. The population was 2,869 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Jackson County. The town was founded as a post office on October 19, 1868, by General James K. Polk with the name of "Galloway" after Major General John A. Galloway who fought in the Mexican–American War and commandedRated 5th battalion Texas Volunteers Infantry Regiment during that conflict. The original plat of Indianola Township was filed on December 12, 1870 by Jno C. Doddridge and named for President Millard Fillmore's daughter - Indianola (the spelling has been changed numerous times). In 1881, an act to establish a public school system was passed by the state legislature and signed into law by Governor George M. Wallace; this became known as Indianola School District No. 1A and opened in February of that year with sixty-six students from ten villages within Jackson County (now part of Meridian). In 1886, an act to establish a post office similar to what exists today designated the new post office name for Indianola; it opened on October 19th with mail being sent from Vicksburg until 1902 whenJackson Post Office Act #3 established Jackson Post Office located east side of White Street between Main and Old Hickory Streets - which still functions as your localPaid Door service provider today! As time went on more villages were added including Sunnyside in 1893 and Ridgeland in 1898 before finally closing off all village connections in 1912 due to lack of space or population growth – making it one of only two townships without any villages attached to it at any point during its history!
