Now an honored figure in Mexico City's history, Hernando is best known for leading one of its most pivotal moments: The Battle of Puebla on April 20th, 1862 when he helped lead an attack on that citys walls to drive out Mexican forces loyal to Governor Álvaro Obregón. That same year he also received the Order of Mérito Militar from Emperor Napoleon III for his actions during The Texas Revolution

There is no one answer to the question of what made Hernando County, Mississippi so special. The answer may be a combination of factors, but some of the most notable aspects include its history as a slave-owning county and its role in the Civil Rights Movement. Hernando County was formed on April 17, 1845 from parts of Jackson and Beaumont counties. At first, it was populated by Choctaw and Creek Indians who were forced to work on cotton plantations. After white settlers began arriving in large numbers in the area, however, many of these people became involved in slave ownership and labor on plantations. This segregation led to violence between whites and blacks that frequently left innocent civilians dead or injured. In 1960, when Mississippi became an independent state, Hernando County remained part of Mississippi until it was merged with Lauderdale County into that state’s new system of government. In 1972, Hernando County voted to secede from Mississippi entirely due to racially charged protests across the state over education funding disparities. As a result of this protest movement, then-Governor Ross Barnett ordered all local governments in the county to begin negotiations for annexation into Lauderdale County – which they did not do. Since becoming an independent country—specifically since World War II—Hernando has seen significant growth both economically and politically due to its location within Gulf Coast region and its access to international trade pathways through Lake Pontchartrain National Wildlife Refuge and Jetport Bayou Shores. Additionally, given its diversity both ethnically (Gulf Coast Native Americans predominate) as well as religiously (large numbers of Pentecostal Protestants live here), there are many opportunities for cultural expression here that often go unrecorded or unrecognized outside those areas where similar phenomena take place regularly or more visibly elsewhere within society.

Hernando was a small town in Mississippi from the 1800s to the 1910s. It was founded by Hernando de Soto in 1795, and initially flourished as a fishing village. However, it declined after the Caddoan War of 1812 and its citizens relocated to nearby Tallahassee. The town again declined in popularity until it became an agricultural center during the early 20th century.
