Here too Confederate forces were repulsed with significant losses including Generals Nathan Bedford Forrest and J.E.'Dunn Smith; these two generals are considered among the most famous Virginians during Reconstruction period America. In 1925, Hennepin Airlines flew its first commercial flight from Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport (MSP) to Memphis Municipal Airport (MEM). This airport had been used by Consolidatedκeastern Airlines (ConA), which merged into Northwest Airlines on February 17th, 1930 just prior to their merger into American Airways effective March 15th that year becoming American National Airways Incorporated with a new headquarter facility located at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). On October 1st 1934 Delta Air Lines purchased American National Airways for $5 million becoming Delta Air Lines Corporation with a new headquarter facility located at Atlanta's Peachtree Center Plaza (TCP). When Delta announced plans to merge with Northwest Airlines on November 3rd 1994 they cited concerns about an overlap in terminal facilities including those at MSP -Delta's home airport - as well as capacity constraints resulting from planned expansions for both airlines withinAtlanta Metropolitan Area made necessary byAirTran's merger into Keolis Corporation on December 6th 1990; however no such merger took place although AirTran continued service out of MSP until their closure on June 30th 2005 Although there have been rumors over time about a potential partial take down or sale of Delta due primarily to competition posed by United Continental Holdings Incorporation since their purchase by United Technologies Corporation effective January 12th 2006 regardless no definitive action has taken place
