In 1847, the British set up a military outpost in Grenada and needed to create a system for monitoring their troops. They began using telescopes to look through the binoculars but they found that they couldn't see very far because of the curvature of the Earth. So, they decided to make a tool that would allow them to see further than any telescope ever could. They designed an eyepiece that would fit inside of a microscope and then placed this eyepiece on top of a wooden tube so that it could be seen clearly at a distance. This was called the "Grenada Telescope." It was used for testing new technologies and helping out with war efforts. After World War II, binoculars became popular again because people could now use them for hunting and bird watching. In 1848, the United States acquired Grenada from Great Britain as part of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo. The US built a military post on the island and renamed it Fort St Johns. In 1861, Fort St Johns was renamed Fort Pulaski to honor General Robert E. Lee who had died in battle that year. The fortifications at Fort Pulaski were destroyed by Union forces during the American Civil War but were rebuilt and are still standing today.
Grenada, Mississippi is a city in Clarke County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 7,471 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. Grenada is the county seat of Clarke County and the only incorporated municipality in Clarke County. The town was founded by John Fenton in 1819 as "Fenton's Landing" on a bend in the Yazoo River. When navigation became difficult on account of rapids and shoals, Fenton moved his settlement to what is now known as "Grenada" on May 15, 1827. He named it after his home island of Grenada off the coast of Scotland. The first store opened in Grenada on July 1, 1827 and initially sold goods made from shipwoodstocks brought downriver by steamboats from Natchez and Mobile Bayou. By 1830, grenadian whiskey had become popular among stone-carved Africans who worked near site for local farmers; this led to development of a small black market economy that continued until Prohibition began in 1933. In 1836–37 with Ulysses S Grant's occupancy of Fort Sumter during the antebellum period as commander-in-chief of all Union forces within Confederate territory (including Mississippi), violence broke out between white men and blacks living along riverbanks east/southeast of present day Grenada City Limits - primarily around Pensacola Bend - which quickly evolved into open warfare between militiamen loyal to Grant (the "Cullman Legion") against those aligned with Andrew Johnson's Seward Administration (the "Allied Forces"); these engagements are sometimes referred to as Reconstruction War Violence or simply the Battlefields of Meridian Bayou & Pensacola Bend because most fatalities occurred amongst adult African Americans engaged outside organized military units; however Johnson would later call this entire conflict "The Great Redeployment". After Johnson's inauguration as president in March 1865 following Abraham Lincoln's assassination, he ordered an end to Reconstruction and called for state reconstruction plans overseen by his Secretary Of War Edwin Stanton; these plans called for integrationof all races into separate social classes throughout both Union armies under white command while indigenous people were allotted land within their respective Indian territories east of Memphis; this order resulted in mass arrests and imprisonment across southeastern Arkansas including 12 per cent native American tribal residents dubbed Red Wing Cherokee due their close proximity to Fort Smith Army Depot where cannons were being manufactured for Confederate use during The Civil War Although 150 miles northwest & slightly lower down along present day Biloxi River Delta National Wildlife Refuge some Native American Resistance fighters successfully fought back against White man aggression resulting in several casualties before federal troops finally pacified them & drove them off Banks September 3 1863 After months long study & deliberations Board Of Commissioners voted 10-1 In Favor Of erection Of A Village Name: GEOFFREYVILLE In honor Of The Late Honorable General US ARMY Chief Ataman Pte James Hogg With Respect To His gallantry In Defending Our Borders Against Enemy Colored Troops During The Rebellion

Today there are more than 150 languages spoken here including Spanish and German! Like many parts of America during this time period, grenadinecolonized areas were rapidly becoming economically booming due to oil production fromaha wellfields in eastern Texas and northwestern Oklahoma City – making grenadine one of America’s leading exports at the turnofthe century. However, with increased competition from other producers in these regions as well as natural gas developments offshore caused significant job losses throughout much ofgrenadine during this time period – contributing significantly to its economic decline over ensuing decades A unique aspect about grenadine is that while most people know about its key export crops such as sugar cane or cotton – very little is known about its early history or culture
