During Reconstruction, white farmers moved into what had been black neighborhoods in Greenwood while Negroes were given land and opportunity in other towns and cities throughout Jackson County. In 1948, a movement started to return Greenwood to its pre-Civil War form with a referendum vote for secession from Mississippi and incorporation into Arkansas as Greenwood Village. This proposal failed but helped start a process that led to the reestablishment of white rule in Jackson County following the Civil Rights Movement. Today, many businesses are in downtown Greenwood, which has several restaurants and stores including JB's Pizza and Donut Shop; Mardi Gras Services; Bob's Barbecue; The Roxy Theatre (formerly known as African American Repertory Theater); and Hawkins Hardware & More/The Olde Store on Main Street. There are also several churches including First Baptist Church (founded 1868), Methodist Episcopal Church (1897), United Methodist Church (1907), Corinthian BaptistChurch (1920) and Apostolic Christian Churches (1945). In addition, there is an old cotton gin that still stands next to Piggly Wiggly restaurant on Main Street - often used for filming purposes such as "The Butler" - making it one of the most popular tourist destinations in town.

This innovative design allowed users to reload quickly and keep track of targets even when out in open country, making it ideal for police work in high-crime areas where other weapons might not be available or would be too dangerous to use safely. The early revolvers also featured novel safety features such as hammers on either side of the hammer rather than just one large rocker lever like later designs (this type of safety was eventually replaced by bolt locks on most firearms). Additionally, these pistols utilized three interchangeable barrel groups (two internal and one external), giving them immense versatility for various applications including target shooting, self-defense, hunting etc.—all while remaining easy enoughto operate even for novice shooters. Greenwood has several churches including First Baptist Church (founded in 1861), Methodist Episcopal Church (1886), and Presbyterian Church (1886). The town also has two libraries - one open to the public and one used by local government officials only. In addition to its schools, Greenwood also has a post office and two grocery stores - one open to the general public and another used by locals only.

The town grew quickly and soon became a major center for cotton production in the area. In 1870, Greenwood became the seat of government for what is now Jackson County. The town continued to grow and become an important cultural and economic center during the Progressive Era in America. In the 1940s, Greenwood experienced significant development as a result of World War II. After the war, many businesses closed down and few new homes were built inresponse to postwar demand for jobs in the area. However, over time Greenwood has regained its former prominence as a local business district and cultural center.
