Greenwood, Mississippi is home to many gun lights. These firearms are often used for target shooting or hunting purposes. Gun lights have been around for a long time and some of them even predate the rifle. Some of the earliest gunlights were made from small metal plates that could be hung on a post to light up an area. The use of these devices increased during the American Revolution when people wanted to see what was happening in their vicinity. After the revolution, guns became more common and so it was natural that they would becomeier used for gunfire as well. Many people who lived in Greenwood at this time also had pistols and rifles so there was always potential for gunfights occurring in the community. There were also militias stationed in Greenwood during this time which helped keep things calm andOrdinance #5 from 1816 stated “No person shall fire any shot off with any kind of weapon but a musket, bayonet, punt or spade without leave of two hundred men” This ordinance applied equally to citizens and militia members alike which helped reduce violence in the community During World War II, Greenwood saw a large influx of military personnel due to its strategic location as a stop on Route 66. Due to this fact, many businesses closed down and shootings occurred within the community as soldiers bartered goods for ammunition or goods they could not carry with them outside of base camp

The Greenwood Gun Light company was started in 1909 by J.C. Whitaker and his son, James Whitaker Jr. The company manufactured gun lights and accessories such as telescopes, night sights, windscreens and light holders. In the 1920s, the Whitakers decided to move their manufacturing operations to Decatur, Alabama. However, during World War II they produced machine guns for the United States Military and continued production until 1945.
Greenwood, Mississippi is located in the southwestern corner of the United States and is bordered by Alabama to the north, Louisiana to the east, and Arkansas to the south. The population of Greenwood was 7,521 as of 2000. The town was founded in 1836 by white settlers who were looking for a place to settle after being driven out of their homes inAlabama by Native Americans. Greenwood became a city in 1907 and has since grown into a thriving community with a rich cultural heritage. The history of Greenwood goes back to 1836 when white settlers arrived in what is now Greenwood from Alabama. At first they settled on land that is now known as Jackson Heights Cemetery. Eventually they developed a town around their new home which they named after General Andrew Jackson, who had helped drive the Native Americans out of Alabama some years earlier. Many people think that Greenwood’s nickname may have come about because of its close proximity to Greeneville – another small town established near where Jackson Heights sat – which many thought might be called “The Cotton Kingdom” because so much cotton was grown nearby. After several years of growth and development, it wasn’t long before Greenwood became a city under its own government but it didn’t stop there; over time it continued to develop into one of Mississippi’s most vibrant communities with an active economy based on commerce, industry, education and tourism. In 1907, when Greenwood merged with neighboring Black Prairie City (established in 1865), it became one of the most populous cities within Mississippi County – at least until Katrina hit New Orleans two years later! Today, despite continuing challenges faced by their local economy (jobs are scarce due largely to chronic low wages), residents from all walks of life live and work in downtown Greenwood – making it one OF THE HIGHLY DIFFERENTIED CITYS IN MISSISSIPPI COUNTY! Despite this success story however certain aspects remain unchanged: crime rates are high and poverty remains rampant; both streetscapes and demographics reflect traditional African-American/ Caucasian divide even though both populations now make up more than 50% majority black or African American; while nightlife continuesto be popular among residents young & old alike! Take for example recent events that have taken place within our community recently: In May 2017 members from throughout our community gathered together at Union Station for “A Night Without Violence Against Women Summit/Conference” aimed at ending violence against women across America including examples from Greater Memphis Area thruout TN…the event coincided also w/ International Women's Day!!! This past November we held our 3rd Annual Heritage Festival including Folkloric Arts sanctioned music & dance performances by local artists along side food booths & drinks sales….what started as just an annual event hasgrown into something more…..an unbridled celebration celebrating our unique culture & way Of Life! And lastly but not least……in October 2016 we hosted “Black History Month Celebration ft The Hammond Band featuring A-Tigers saxophonist Donte whole family band Live performance fireworks show

Greenwood was founded in 1818 by the Rev. James Greenwood and his wife, Sarah. The town was named after General Andrew Jackson, who had served in the American Revolution and then became a U.S. congressman from Mississippi. In 1831, Greenwood became a seat of government for Jackson County. The town's main shopping and services center were located on the east side of the river, while its downtown was centered around the courthouse building on Wilson Street.
