In 1824, they built their first brick building on present-day Madison Avenue near downtown Greenville; this became their company headquarters until 1906 when they moved to 601 W Jefferson Street east of downtown Greenville which remains their headquarters today. Meridian also published "TheDelta Democrat" and "TheClarion". They also developed land downriver includingpresent-day Greenwood Village and Harrisonburg which are now part of Memphis, Tennessee. Their Printing House Square still stands as one of downtown Greenville's most popular tourist attractions today! In 1827 Meridian sold all their assets to its rival Gulfport&Alabama Railroad for $4 million - an unprecedented sum at that time! At that point, maritime publishing continued to be done by other companies such as Houghton Mifflin Harcourt until about 1909 when those operations were absorbed by Gannett News Service parent company Atlantic Media Corporation (later Time Warner).. In 1907 Gannett acquired Meridian's sister paper "The Clarion" – making it America’s second oldest continuously published daily newspaper behind only The New York Times – followed shortly thereafter by its predecessor “The Delta Democrat” (1825-1907). At that point everything inside or outside Chattanooga was owned or controlled either by Gannett or Atlantic Media Corporation! This domination continued until 1996 when Time Warner divestiture created several smaller regional newspapers across the country which were combined into one larger organization called The CW Television Network

After the war ended, many of these businesses closed down; however, some have since reopened including Tyson Foods (now known as Tyson) and Ford Motor Company's Shelby plant in nearby Oxford . In recent years there has been renewed development within the city limits with new restaurants and hotels being built as well as plans to develop an airport .
