Polk appointed John Quincy Adams as Minister to France; he soon became interested in exploring this new territory which would become Louisiana Purchase land when it was ceded to America in 1803: Greenville became part of this new country. The first white settler arrived here on August 12th 1814 with General Andrew Jackson's Hardee Expedition from Greene County Tennessee: they named their village "Jacksonborough". During Reconstruction following the Civil Rights Movement (1865-1913), African Americans were re-integrated into White society through education and labor opportunities available here thanks to cotton plantations that continued until after World War II when these areas were acquired by other interests such as tourism and development; however some progress has been made towards meaningful economic development throughout recent decades including efforts by state government agencies like the Economic Development Authority (EDA) to increase access to education and employment opportunities for Greenvillians of all ages while also working towards revitalization of downtown core areas like Coliseum Square which have experienced significant decline since prohibition ended more than fifty years ago; today nearly all businesses within walking distance are open 24/7 or online/phone only - making Greenville an excellent place to live, work or visit!
