The company was founded by John P. Holster in 1865, and has continued to produce holsters throughout the years. Holster began producing holster products in 1865 as a result of his experience with Danish revolvers. He had worked as a gunsmith for some time before starting his own business in Gautier. At that time, revolver manufacture was still an illegal activity in America; however, John managed to get his product onto the market nonetheless. His first holster product was a belt holster for a .38 Special revolver. It proved successful and he soon began producing other types of handguns as well- such as revolvers and shotguns. In 1871 he started manufacturing holsters specifically for military use; these were known as “combat” holsters due to their heavy construction and protection against damage during combat. The company became very successful at this point and eventually passed its founder onto his son John Jr., who continued production until 1938 when it merged with another major holster manufacturer (Herschel). holsterHistory in Gautier, Mississippi began with the arrival of settlers in the area in the 1830s. The first known reference to a holster was made by a man named John Bostwick in 1837 when he purchased land east of Gautier on which to build his mill. A year later, Bostwick and his brother-in-law, James Hogg, started manufacturing holsters for civilian use. By 1841, two holsters were being produced per day at their mill. In 1848, Colonel Ebenezer Willard bought some land to the south of Gautier and developed it into what is now known as Willard County. At this time, pistols were still being carried openly with no protection against robbery or attack. Colonel Willard decided to create a restricted military zone around his estate and established a garrison of 10 men under the command of Major Walter Walthall. This event is commemorated by a statue located at Fort Mims today. In 1850, Confederate General Robert E Lee arrived at Gautier with an army intending to invade Canada. As soon as he learned about Confederate plans for invasion he ordered all forces within easy reach be sent northward into central Mississippi instead. When Governor Quitman discovered that Confederate troops were quartered near Gautier he ordered them disbanded and all arms turned over to Union forces. On October 12th 1861, after much violence and negotiation, General Beauregard surrendered Vicksburg without any shots being fired from the fortifications across town; this event is also documented by a plaque located on Old Hickory Boulevard today. After the war ended in 1865 there was little left to establish business activity apart from farming until 1870 when C R Johnson erected astore on Main Street which became one of the most popular places for shopping in town during that time period thanks largely to its wide variety of merchandise including firearms and ammunition available at reasonable prices

Gautier is a small town in Jackson County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 2,083 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Memphis–New Orleans–Jackson Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now Gautier was first settled by French colonists in 1763. The name "Gautier" means "place where grapes are grown." Gautier became a post office in 1801 and an incorporated city in 1865. A cotton gin and distillery were built here in the 1830s, and the town prospered as a center for agricultural production until the Great Depression caused a decline in its fortunes. In recent years, however, Gautier has made some progress toward revitalization with efforts to attract businesses and tourists to its attractions such as its agriculture museum, which opened in 2004; its arts scene; and its rich history. The community lies on the banks of Bayou Teche which forms much of its border with Jackson County to the east and west. To the north it borders northeastern Mississippi's Choctaw Nation reservation; to the south it bordered Bellefontaine Cemetery before being separated from that community by bayou Teche. According to the 2010 census, Gautier has a total area of , of which (or 98%) is land and (or 2%) is water. The remainder consists of two villages: Walkerville to the south-west and New Iberia to the north-west both forming part of Bayou Teche Municipal Authority No 1which covers all or most of Bayou Teche between Walkerville Road on one side and Interstate 55 on another side).

There is a long and varied history of holsters, from the rudimentary leather belt holster designed for personal protection in the Bronze Age to the modern sidearm Holster. The earliest examples of holster design can be dated back to around 4500 BC when Egyptians began using belts as makeshift weapon holders. The belt was a simple piece of cloth or leather that was used to secure items such as spears, swords and knives in place while walking or running. In China, there were some early designs based on animal skin straps which were used for general protection against weapons and accidents. These straps were usually made from one or two strips of rawhide that were tied around the waist or hips with either cords or thongs. By the 5th century AD,Belgian craftsmen had developed a type of holster called a 'boussel'. This consisted of an interconnected series of bands (figs 1-2) formed from strips of hide either sewn together directly or twisted into an onion shape. The boussel was worn over clothing and served as a means of carrying multiple weapons without fear they would fall off during movement. At this time, handguns were still being primarily used by cavalry units and it was not until the 14th century that firearms started becoming more common among infantry forces across Europe. This shift happened due to advances in gunsmithing and engineering which allowed firearms manufacturers to produce faster-acting rounds which made them more appropriate for military use. While handguns continue to be popular among law enforcement agencies today, they are also increasingly being replaced by firearms such as assault rifles and shotguns

The holster industry started in the early 1800’s when a British Arms Dealer, John Browning, started selling pistols. pistols with holsters were not common at that time because people did not trust handguns to be safe and easy to take with them on the go.

Gautier, Mississippi was founded in 1819 by Frenchmen Pierre Gautier and Jean Baptiste Chouteau. The town had a post office from 1824 until 1840. It became a federal district in 1830 and an act of Congress designated it as the seat of government for the Upper Bigassee County area. In 1851, Gautier was renamed for General Lafayette. The cotton industry played a significant role in Gautierre's development. After the acquisition of land by the United States in 1862, the cotton gin quickly replaced hand-weaving as the primary means of spinning yarn. Cotton production increased rapidly after 1865 when Union soldiers brought machines to Gautierre to help with their cotton production. In 1865, Gautiere saw its first railroad: the Memphis and Fayette Railroad passed through town on November 10th. This event helped spur economic development and increase manufacturing operations around town. In 1897, Gautiere lost its congressional seat to Yazoo City but regained it in 1901 following Reconstruction efforts under President Grover Cleveland; this gave rise to speculation that Lafayette might have been moved to Mississippi because of political correctness at Washington D.C.. However, no such move took place and Lafayette still remains locally venerated as a national hero today! In 1990, Gautierre celebrated its centennial anniversary with a celebration including historical exhibits and speeches by local officials including then-Mayor James Hinson and Congressman John Lewis (D-Ga.). The town also erected a plaque commemorating this milestone occasion which can be seen at Route 66 & US 21 interchange just east of downtown Gautierre
