The town of Corinth was founded by colonists from Holland in 1810. When General Andrew Jackson began his campaign against Native Americans during the Indian Removal Act of 1830, he ordered his army to move towards Corinth specifically because it was an important commercial center on the Mississippi River. This order led to much conflict between Jackson’s forces and Native American insurgents who fought fiercely against their occupiers. Nevertheless, despite these challenges, Corinth eventually became one of Jackson’s key military allies during his campaigns against Native Americans throughout southern Tennessee and Alabama- until his death in 1865. During its heyday as a commercial hub, Corinth enjoyed significant prosperity thanks to its role in commerce and its location on one of America’s main waterways
