Columbus, Mississippi, is home to one of the most significant gun targets in United States history. The site is the historic Petticoat House, which was built in 1892 and served as a shooting range for Confederate soldiers during the American Civil War. The Petticoat House also served as a recruitment center for Confederate forces and hosted numerous mock executions. Today, the Petticoat House hosts an annual event called 'The Bloody Sunday Massacre', which commemorates the fatal shooting of nine African Americans at a nearby plantation on December 3rd, 1875. The Petticoat House has been used as a target facility ever since it was first constructed. In 1906, President Theodore Roosevelt hosted a competition at the house that saw 7 different types of firearms be used to shot at wooden targets located inside and outside of the house. However, eventually they got along with the Europeans because they wanted some help with getting things like food and medicine from Europe (which they couldn't get themselves). The most famous event which happened during this time is the founding of Columbus Circle in Manhattan by Christopher Columbus himself! This circle is still there today, standing as a reminder that humans have been visiting/landing on this continent for centuries now!

However, this decision was overturned on appeal by Governor John Quincy Adams. The United States acquired additional territory during the Mexican–American War (1846-1848). On March 4th, 1848, General James Kenedy surrendered Baton Rouge to General Antonio López Santa Anna at Mobile Bayou Commissioners House on Bayou La Batre. The capitulation marked American victory over Mexico in that war and also led to Canada annexing Florida from Mexico
Columbus was founded by Amerigo Vespucci in 1492. It became a U.S. territory in 1803 and an independent state in 1901. The city of Columbus is the capital of Mississippi.
