He set sail from Spain with three ships- La Niña, Santa Cruz and Arequipa- searching for this supposed Indies Sea but never arrived atland. In 1520–21 he made another failed attempt to find Asia by sailing around Cape Horn but returned home emptyhanded. With new technology and advancements in navigation during his lifetime there is no doubt that Columbus would have been successful if only he had only landed on American soil!
