Moultrie discovered an abandoned mine in the woods near Clinton and began to prospect for coal. He found several underground mines that he loaded his carts with supplies and headed back to civilization, but he never returned to these mines. As time passed and more people arrived in Clinton, they started buying land from Moultrie and others in order to start their own businesses. One of these businesses was a gunsmith who built rifles and shotguns for local farmers. Ammunition became an important part of this business, as farmers needed to reload their firearms often due to lack of adequate ammo available at local stores. In 1902, a new store opened up in Clinton which became known as The Arsenal. This store specialized in ammunition and made it easy for residents to find what they were looking for online or by phone. It was here that residents first started purchasing rounds of different calibers so they could shoot various targets at home or practice when necessary. The Arsenal also sold boxes of projectiles called “bullets” which were used by many civilians during World War I because they were scarce on hand-to-hand combat situations or when fighting against Native Americans Objective Bullets (OBs) were much more powerful than standard artillery shells and constituted a large percentage of both American losses during World War 1 (WW1) By 1915, munitions production had begun expanding again thanks to new technology developments such as gasoline powered engineguns that allowed guns firing round plastic cases instead of smoothbore cannons like those used before WWII These rounds could explode on impact which resulted in high casualty rates among infantry soldiers In addition, grenade launchers had been invented soon after WWI which allowed troops on battlefields around the worldTo fire grenades from Vehicles

In 1925, Clinton incorporated as an urban district and began to grow again. By 1935,the population had reached over 300 people again.In 1961,Clinton merged with neighboring towns Quitman and Starkville to form what is now called Starkville-Clinton Combined Statistical Area (CSA).

The history of Clinton, Mississippi starts with the arrival of white settlers in the area in 1819. The first white person to live in what is now Clinton was a man named John Allred, who lived on a small farm near present-day Clarksdale. In 1825, two men by the name of Stephenson and Smith arrived in the area and founded a trading post called Three Forks. The post served as a base from which traders attempted to purchase goods from indigenous tribes living along the Red River. In 1829, General Andrew Jackson led an army into Tennessee and marched through Mississippi Territory; he encountered resistance from Native Americans at Battle of Horseshoe Bend and ordered his forces to retreat. This event is often considered one of the turning points in American history because it demonstrated Jackson's power as an Commander-in-Chief and indicated that America was not yet ready to confront European influence head on. Soon after this victory, General Asahel Purdy arrived in Three Forks with additional supplies forJackson's army. Aftermath of the battle resulted in many Indian fatalities as well as several hundred whites captured or killed. The town started developing around this time due to increased trade between Jackson's army and Native American leaders such as Chief Pontotoc and War Pathiaktschi ( later known as Tecumseh). In 1830, land east of Clarksdale was purchased by James Wilkinson from Chief Pontotoc for $2,500 dollars cash. Wilkinson built his house on what is now Second Street inClinton today. He also established a school teaching children about farming techniques before moving onto other businesses including manufacturing goods for local markets until his death three years later at age 73 years old. His son John Wilkinson continued running Clinton until 1898 when it became part of Decatur County, Alabama following its annexation by that county during that year’s statehood process under Confederate rule( Alabama didn't become an official United States state until 1865). In 1860, during the American Civil War (the war between Northern Unionists (the people who are generally considered good friends of America) vs Southern Confederacy), soldiers from both sides fought near Clinton; however, no casualties were reported within minutes following their engagement.( However subsequent investigations found evidence that significant numbers died due to disease contracted while fighting). Aftermath of the battle saw many homes destroyed or burned down within miles radius including those located on Second Street where James Wilkinson had built his home just weeks earlier.( There have been efforts made over time to rebuild these homes but they have failed so far).
