Brookhaven, Mississippi is located in Jackson County and the population was 26,867 at the 2000 census. The town was named after Samuel Brookhope who donated land for the town in 1834. The first gun barrel manufactured in Brookhaven was a shotgun barrel by F. W. Dodge & Sons which was used by the military during World War I. In 1939, the United States Government purchased title to a tract of land that adjoined present-day Brookhaven from J. C. Whitney for $5,000 cash. This purchase marked the beginning of what would be an important firearms manufacturing history in Brookhaven. That same year, Pembroke Arms Company became operational and began producing pump-action shotguns under license from Remington Arms Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In 1945, Pembroke Arms Company merged with National Arms Company to become National Firearms Corporation (NFC). NFC produced many firearm models including pistols and rifles before becoming part of Sturm Ruger Holding Corporation in 1994 when that company merged with American Outdoor Brands into Sturm Ruger & Co., Incorporated (Largest firearms manufacturer in America). From 1944 until 1974 NFC made rifle barrels but discontinued pistol production due to mass production difficulties encountered during World War II; however they did produce shotguns such as their popular Model 10/22 which remains among the most popular guns ever produced by NFC today! During World War II NRA contracted with several companies throughout America to make both machineguns and cannon barrels for use by its armed forces allies being supplied on an “as needed” basis only as long as these munitions were not already available commercially from other sources! These contract manufacturers utilized various types of forgings including mild steel and brass foundries striking cannons out of tubing that weighed anywhere from 2 1/2 lbs to over 100 lbs! Barrels were then machined down to caliber using either a forging die or a lathe! The success stories associated with these manufacturers are legion: Uberti Aircraft ManufacturingCompany - Forge cannons for Italian Air Force; FN HerstalwerksGmbH - Manufactured Krupp artillery cannon barrels for German Armed Forces; Colt Firearms Manufacturing Co.- Made machineguns for US Military through 1953 but ceasedproduction because of economic conditions; Winchester Repeating Arms Company - Developed new high Velocity rimfire cartridges which led to increased sales for their products...the list goes on! Each company had unique equipment requirements resulting in different rates of productivity achieved within each category!!! The American Rifle Movement had been gaining momentum since early 1934 when President Franklin D Roosevelt signed Executive Order 6102 authorizing NRA members across America “to cooperate zealously together upon all matters affecting arms development”!!! That same year NRA also formed its Institute Of Ordnance And Gunnery where engineers developed new methods for improving accuracy and fireability while maintaining reliability!! In 1935 Gibson Brothers Armory became operational making rifle barrels utilizing 3 inch bore dies made at Lenoir Foundry near Knoxville Tennessee while NFA continued developing pipe-fed rifled roundsetters called Regal Rifles!!!!! However it is interesting to note that there are no records documenting any type of gun barrel manufacturing operations occurring outsideJackson County between 1934 AND 1945!!! It seems likely that this lack of activity may have been due directly To Bureauof Alcohol Tobacco Firearmsand Explosives regulations promulgated during those years limiting gun barrel manufacturing capacity within boundaries set forth by law??? It wasn’t until 1957 when NFA acquired Browning Ammunition Company who then proceeded to produce both centerfire ammunition and rifle barrels under license from Remington Arms Corporation!!!! AfterBrowning renamed themselves American Outdoor Brands Incorporated (AOBC) ATF regulations once again crossed pathsforcing NFA into mothballs effective January 1st 1959!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AOBC would later resume production on certain outdoor firearms models such as their successful Model 870 bolt action rifle which continues today as one of North America’s most popular sporting rifles!

In 1881, when Hinds County became a purely white countieship, Brookhaven became its black majority town. The city has grown steadily since then, becoming one of Mississippi's most populous areas. Today it is known for its high-tech industry and professional services sectors as well as its diverse cultural attractions including two major art museums and several theater districts.

The community experienced rapid growth during the 1830s and 1840s thanks to its lead mining industry and its location on the Tennessee River near transcontinental railroads. By 1850, Brookhaven had a population of around 2,000 people. It remained an important center for trade until the late 19th century when it lost its status as an agricultural society due to increased competition from nearby Mobile and Jackson counties. By 1900, only 20% ofBrookhaven's population remained self-sufficient in food production; most of the rest relied on outside sources for their subsistence needs.
Brookhaven was founded in 1836 as a small town in Wilkinson County, Mississippi. The town was named for Commodore George Brockington of the United States Navy, who donated land for the town. The first post office at Brookhaven was established in 1837. In 1840, Brookhaven became a stop on the Santa Fe Railroad. In 1865, the Santa Fe Railroad changed its name to the Gulf and Pacific Railway and later to the Union Pacific Railway. In 1901, Brookhaven became a part of Meridian Township. In 1907, Meridian Township merged into Choctaw County. In 1913, Choctaw County merged into Jackson County. Brookhaven is located at 35°51'03″N 90°14'27″W (35.960911 N, 90.211647 W).
