Brandon, Mississippi is a small town located in the Yazoo Delta region of Mississippi. It is bordered by Missoula, Montana on the east, Neshoba County on the south, and Pike County on the west. The population was 1,859 at the 2010 census. Brandon is one of two towns in Neshoba County, along with Decatur. The history of Brandon begins in 1881 when white men from Illinois organized a farmers’ Union and purchased 640 acres (250 hectares) of land northeast of present-day Brandon. They named their new community after General William Tecumseh Sherman who had fought in the American Civil War and received an award for bravery. The men built a school, store and home there before moving to other parts of Arkansas or Texas. In 1907 they sold their holdings to J.P. Morgan who renamed it Decatur and developed it into a large city with various industries including flour milling, shoe manufacturing and oil refineries until World War II when it became a military base for the US Army during World War II and again from 1946 to 1957 as part of Project Custer which produced methamphetamine precursor crystals from local corn products

Brandon, Mississippi is a town in Edgefield County, Mississippi, United States. The population was 997 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Jackson metropolitan area. The first post office in Brandon was established on October 1, 1881, and received its present name from General James H. Brandon who commanded an army during the American Civil War. The community was platted by J.P. Richardson and Wm Ransom in 1892. A school for white children opened in 1901 and became a high school in 1907 before becoming a university-level institution in 1963 when it merged with Jackson State University to form Mississippi State University-Jackson In 1915, Brandon became home to the world's first all-electric light show at the old Post Office Pavilion which featured 5200 electric light bulbs with each measuring 6 inches (15 cm). Brandon In 1978, Brandon began hosting annual summertime events called "Festival Fridays" which included arts & crafts displays along Main Street while hot dogs were served up at various locations around town
The first white people to arrive in Brandon were missionaries from the United States. They built a small mission on the banks of the Yazoo River in 1826. The mission was abandoned in 1830, and the first white person to live inBrandon was James Hogg, who arrived in 1832. He worked as a laborer for local farmers. In 1834, Hogg married a native Mississippian named Rachelle. They had two children before they left for Illinois in 1836. In 1840, Jeptha Bemis purchased land near Brandon from the Creeks. He began to build a mill thereon which he name "Bemis' Mill". In 1861, Confederate forces burned down Bemis' Mill while he was inside it. The mill continued to be used until around 1920 when it became unusable due to problems with the water conserving system. It is now part of the Mississippi State Fairgrounds Museum.
