Woodbury is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 2,098 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Woodbury is located on the west bank of the Mississippi River, east of Minneapolis and west of Stroudsburg. The first settlers in what would become Woodbury were three families who arrived from Illinois in 1837: John Crouch, Isaac Higbee and their wives; David Higbee and his wife; and Job Higbee with his two daughters (Jeannette and Sarah). In 1881, James Green came to Woodbury from Farmington Township, Minnesota with his family. He donated land for a school and church in what became known as Green Town Square today. In 1893, Wm Hennepin built a gristmill northeast of town on wooded soil donated by James Green. The mill still stands today & grinds lumber for buildings in nearby Minnetonka & Ramsey Counties
Woodbury was first settled in 1851. It became a city in 1902 and it is the second-largest city in Minnesota. The area around Woodbury was heavily forested until the early 19th century, when settlers began clearing land for agriculture. The first post office in town was established on July 1, 1853.
