The Winona, Minnesota Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1892. The club has been a part of the MN Rifle and Pistol Association (MRPA) since its inception. The MRPA is a not-for-profit organization that promotes shooting sports inMinnesota. The NRA also sponsors events at the MRPA’s annual meeting which are open to the public. As of 2019, there are over 1,500 members within the MRPA statewide. In 1870, Cornelius “Crazy Legs” Clark opened his first rifle shop in Winona. In 1922, Clark’s son Harry took over the business and operated it until his death in 1954. After Harry’s death, his widow Mary ran the shop until her own death in 1968. In 1978, Mrs. Mary’s grandson Jay decided to reopen the store as an AR15/M4 range with optic sights and an external muzzle brake for sporting purposes only; this operation lasted until about 1990 when Jay sold it to Norma Crouse who operated it as a prohibited firearms store for many years before closing it down again for lack of patronage in 2006. In 1986, Norma Crouse reopened her store as an airsoft gun range with opticsights and an external muzzle brake for sporting purposes only; this operation lasted until about 2007 when she closed it down again because she could no longer keep up with demand from customers who were purchasing airsoft guns without proper safety equipment such as eye protection! In 2009, Norma Crouse bought back her old store from Jay Crouse and reopened it under new management as Shooter Eye Protection Center (SEPC). SEPC has been providing safe shooting experiences to citizens ofWinona since 2009! Winona, Minnesota is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota and the county seat of Isanti County. The population was 26,083 at the 2010 census, making it the second-largest city in Isanti County after Minneapolis. It is also the largest city in MN outside of St. Paul and Minneapolis. The first post office was established at what is now Winona Lake on October 15, 1872 by Arent Hennepin; it was moved to its current location four years later on July 1st, 1875 by Colonel Charles Lindbergh upon his arrival in town from Boston Globe airmail flights over Superior National Forest land within sight of John D’Italia Airport north-west of town (now Northtown Mall).
