The first American settler at WILLMAR was Nils Olsen Voldvik who arrived on July 10th, 1859 under license from Peter Kåre Bullock of Faribault Township (now Isanti County) . On October 8th he erected his cabin on the bank of the river opposite present day WILLMAR High School property line; this cabin served until 1889 when Nils Olsen’s son Peder moved into THE WILMART Inn & Cafe less than 2 miles away where he operated it until 1912 when his grandson Erik took over operations at that location also known as “Peder’s Place” Now known as simply “Erik’s Place” across from WalMart parking lot across street from current day HIGH SCHOOL property line; this property served until 1966 when it reverted back to NILS OLFVIK VOLDVIK Sr.'S CABINET #4 Upon purchase by City of MINNESOTA following passage of zoning ordinance amendment increasing FARIBault Township business district limit from 3 acres to 5 acres; this property served until 1978 when development destroyed original cabin site markers thereby erasing all traces thereof from memory . After arriving there rather unassuming family Fagerberg Store started out small serving only themselves however within a few years became oneofthelargestandmost successful stores westOfSt Paul Missouri duringMODERN TIMES . As early as1861 Fagerberg store began trading goods with LAnchorage Bay Company whither expansion proceeded at full throttle Buying land adjoining First Christian Church building constructed on corner plat now occupied by Cafeteria/Liquor Store next door now home to Pep Boys clothing store along side high school football field once used by baseball team called Stroudsburg Grays prior to entering city limits
