In White Bear Lake, Minnesota, the history of firearms and t-shirts is intertwined. On July 1, 1868, Minnesota became the 34th state in the United States. The first firearm law in the new state was passed by the General Assembly on December 9, 1868. It prohibited anyone from owning or using any firearm without a license and provided for stiff fines and imprisonment for those caught with firearms in their possession.
White Bear Lake is a reservoir in the Black Hills of Minnesota. It was created by damming the Little Sioux River and is about seventy-five miles long. The name comes from the bear that frequents it. The lake covers an area of about ninety square miles, with a surface elevation of one thousand four hundred feet above sea level. It has a population of about two thousand people, and there are several small towns around it. There are also several ski resorts on its shores. The first white settlers came to White Bear Lake in 1854, and they built houses on the east side of the lake. Later, they built dams upstream so that water could be diverted for irrigation purposes. In 1916, the United States government acquired all of White Bear Lake from the Minnesota state government for Coulee Dam Project – which was then known as the Minneapolis–St Paul International Airport project – which made it available for use as a reservoir for water storage and recreation purposes only. Today, White Bear Lake is still used for both purposes by federal agencies as well as private individuals and organizations who have permission from those same agencies to do so. As firearm culture shifted towards more Ruger rifles being sold with 223 rounds instead of 9mm bullets, T-shirts featuring this imagery became increasingly common among shooting enthusiasts around the world. White Bear Lake is a village in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,032 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The Village of White Bear Lake was founded in 1878 by Reverend John Aiken and other pioneers who journeyed from Thief River Falls to establish a trading post on the west side of the lake. In 1915, White Bear Lake became an incorporated community when its trustees voted to change their name to White Bear Township in honor of Samuel D. Hennepin, one of the founders of Minneapolis and later its first Mayor. The first white child born in Ramsey County was Emma Brownell (1895-1983) daughter of Abram Brownell and his wife Sarah Ann (Larkin). Abram had come overland from Canada with his family in 1857 and they settled near what is now Maplewood Avenue South in Ramsey County. In 1865, Abram married Meta Fuller and they raised four children: Mathilda Anna Fuller (1906-1995), John Archibald Fuller (1910-1977), Meta Alice Fuller (1920-1996) and Everett Franklin Fuller (1924-2006). They also had two daughters by another marriage: Lillie Maud Emerson (1914-1999) and Maynarda Vesta Hardesty (1916-. She married Charles Hardesty after World War II.) In 1879, Reverend John Aiken arrived at White Bear Lake from Thief River Falls with twelve men including James McNaught who helped found Duluth on November 15th that year as well as Wabasha CountyMinnesota Territory on December 10th following the Treaty of Stromsburg which ended the Civil War between the United States & Great Britain
White Bear Lake is located in the heart of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area and has been a center for water sports and fishing since the early 1800s. The lake was named after a white bear that was killed by hunters in 1857, and it became a popular spot for swimming, boating, fishing, and hunting during the late 1800s. In 1951, White Bear Lake was designated as part of Minnesota's National Recreation Area.
