One significant event that occurred during this time period was Mayor Harry Heineman's successful campaign for re-election against then- Sheriff Sid Miller in 1951 using radio advertising which helped him gain national attention due to his grassroots campaigning style unique among city officials at that time... In 1957 Western Electric electric streetcar service began running between downtown StPaul Municipal Court (now First Avenue North) eastbound and westbound but ended only two blocks east of Central Avenue due to high costs associated with adding new streetcar lines aroundtown at that time... Today remaining evidence from this era can still be found within today's central business district where K Street NE intersects First Avenue North just north of Interstate 94

West St. Paul, Minnesota is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, located on the Red River near its confluence with the Minnesota River. As of the 2010 census, West St. Paul had a population of 84,311 and was the third-largest city in Minnesota after Minneapolis and Saint Paul. Its name is derived from Dutch Westphalia (west of Frankfurt am Main), which was then part of Germany. The first settlers were Swedes who arrived in 1837 and named their new town after their home country's capital, Stockholm; when Sweden became an United States territory in 1857, they changed the name to Minneapolis because their new capital was at that time in Washington County. In 1854, when 50 miles (80 km) east of downtown Minneapolis by rail opened up as what is now Saint Paul Township, farmers there decided to move westward into what is now West St.Paul Township on land donated by General David Sibley and other fur traders during the Dakota War for Indian Territory (1864–68). The first post office called "Westphalia" was established here on February 24, 1865; it moved to "Streator" on July 1st that year due to high postage rates prevailing at those times! On October 5th 1870, voters approved a charter amendment making Westphalia a city! By 1900s-1920s WSP had become one of America’s largest pork packing plants with over 10 million pigs exported annually
