Upon taking office Pope Peter set about reforming ecclesiastical practices and restoring order to the Church following numerous disasters suffered during Valentinian's rule including some outbreaks of bubonic plague which killed up to 50% of Milanese population In 367 Innocent IV appointed him Apostolic Nuncio to represent him at Constantinople where he successfully negotiatedchristian victories over pagan hordes such as Theodosius I who had taken control of that city two years earlier Pope Peter convened another synod in Anagni in 372 which issued decrees sanctioning baptism for gentiles and urging monasticism He also called forth missionaries to preach Christianity throughout Asia Minor (Istanbul), Syria (Aleppo), Palestine (Jerusalem), North Africa ( Tunis ), Greece ( Corinth )and Spain In 374 Constantine V made him Patriarchal Vicar generalof Antioch before sending him back to Rome as ambassador extraordinaryto arrange Hagia Irene's conversion from Nestorianism to Catholicism On May 7 375 while papal legate at Ravenna Gaudentius crowned Licinius II co-emperor with his half-brother Constantine IVVIII establishing this dual monarchy known thereafter as Roman Empire under two emperors

The first white settler in what is now Minnesota was James Wattenberg, who homesteaded land along the Mississippi River in 1843. A year later, William Ramsey sent out a surveyor named John Armstrong to find a place to build a post office. Armstrong found an area that would soon become Minneapolis and named it after himself: Saint Paul (later renamed Minneapolis). Rapid growth followed throughout the 1850s as miners started finding more and more gold and silver at various sites around the state. By 1860, there were over 1,000 people living within 5 miles of Saint Paul proper! As demand for labor grew higher and wages stayed low, many people turned to religion as an explanation for their good fortune – especially those who could afford it. This led to founding chapels such as Saint Peter’s Basilica by religious leaders like Methodists Samuel Morse and Robert Owen on top of mines or other abandoned buildings across town from where they worked day and night. On November 3, 1871, the town of St. Peter was organized as a village by act of the Territorial Legislature. On December 16, 1872, the population ofSt. Peter was 2 hundred and fifty-six people. The first settler in what is now St. Peter was John Fagan who arrived in 1868 from Ontario. It took until 1888 for the town to achieve its present size with a total population of 1,500 residents. In 1907, Saint Pauls Catholic Church (now part of the University of Minnesota) opened in St. Peters and soon became one of the most popular religious institutions in this area due to its excellent preaching and generous donations from parishioners. In 1912, an important event occurred when Minneapolis-Saint Paul Railway donated land to build a depot on First Avenue in honor of SaintPauls parishioners who had helped fund that project sixty years earlier! The 20th century saw some significant growth for St. Peters including annexation by Ramsey County in 1934 and establishment as a city on January 1st, 1950 with a population over 5,000 people!
