In 1856, St. Peter's Episcopal Church was built on the site of a former log cabin. The church is one of the oldest in the area and was dedicated on October 27, 1856. In 1915, the church grounds were bought by the Minnesota Board of Regents and became part of the University of Minnesota campus.
