This paper will explore the high capacity conversions history in St. Paul, Minnesota over the years. By 1992, however, STPECO had begun experiencing financial difficulties and went bankrupt。 In 1995, Minnesota exited bankruptcy proceedings but kept STPECO operating until 2001 when all its assets were sold off,including both The Twin Towers reactor units。 A variety of other large conversion projects have been undertaken throughout downtown Saint Paul over ensuing decades,but none have quite achieved such renown as “The Twin Towers reactor unit project” did back in 1991。 Even today,the project remains an iconic symbol for downtown Saint Paul and is still cited as one of metro Minneapolis’ most significant engineering achievements (in fact,it was even named one of America's Ten Great Engineering Achievements by Forbes magazine in 2006).
