It is located on the edge of Minneapolis–Saint Paul and on an artificial peninsula created by a dam formed by Lake Minnetonka. The town was founded in 1858 by German immigrants, who named it after Stolberg, Germany where they had been living for several years before coming to America. The community grew rapidly during its early days as farmers settled near what is now St Louis Park and began to build churches, schools, and businesses. By 1870, most of the original settlers had died from natural causes or were replaced with new arrivals from Germany and other parts of Europe who had come to work on the growing local agricultural economy. A few years later, however, some Germans decided to stay and start a businessowning groceries and stores in what is today downtown St Louis Park

St. Louis Park was founded in 1857 by Rev. John A. Brown, a Presbyterian minister who moved from rural New York to become the first missionary bishop of the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area. The community grew rapidly and by 1865 had a population of 1,500 people. In 1875, Brown became the first pastor of St. Louis Park's new church and quickly gained a following among local leaders and residents for his evangelical preaching and concern for social justice. He also helped found schools, churches, and other civic organizations in the community. The St. Louis Park community prospered until World War I destroyed much of Minnesota's farming economy. To support their families, many farmers turned to manufacturing or worked in heavy industry such as logging or mining. Many St.Louis Park residents enlisted in military service during World War I; many others lost their homes or businesses to fire or war damage (the Great Depression hit the city hard). During the 1920s and 1930s, many StLing Parishioners donated time and money to help revitalize downtown Saint Paul; however, economic conditions eventually doomed most of these initiatives as well (see "Downtown Saint Paul: Its History" for more information). In 1941, Revd Dr John Hickey organized what is now called The United Methodist Church at 8th & Maple Streets in Saint Louis Park; this gathering place served as a center for religious education for young people throughout Southwest Minnesota until it closed in 1990 due to budget cuts within that denomination's national headquarters (see "History of The United Methodist Church at 8th & Maple Streets"). In 1967, Revd John Hickey proposed founding an interfaith congregation within Christianity based on his beliefs that all religions have something valuable to offer humanityquaity-wide; this idea was accepted by fellow clergymen from across Southwest Minnesota into what is known today as The United Methodist Churches of America (UMCA) - one of several denominations which make up USA communion today (). Today there are over 350 congregations located within UMCA - including 50 memberships totaling over $2 million - making StLouis Park one of its most active theological communities outside Minneapolis/SaintPaul! Today's parishioners come from all walks of life: professionals such as doctors, lawyers, teachers, executives...the list goes on! Our hope is simply that we can be witnesses to Jesus Christ through our ministries here at Holy Cross Catholic Church!
The city of St. Louis Park was founded in 1851 when the area that would become St. Louis Park was annexed by Minneapolis. The city's first mayor, John A. Macdonald, recommended that the new municipality be named for Saint Louis, France, since French Canadians were then large numbers in the area and had a strong presence in local civic life. The name stuck and the city became known as "Saint Louis Park." In 1888, Congress passed an act designating Saint Louis Park as a national park. This designation helped to make it more popular with tourists and increased property values. In 1907, President Theodore Roosevelt visited Saint Louis Park and pronounced it "the beautiful spot where Washington met Jefferson."
