The park also saw heavy use by the local police during Prohibition (1920- 1933). In 1949, when Saint Louis Parish merged into St. Paul County, part of that merger included control over SaintLouis Park; this gave rise to speculation among some residents about whether or not the park should remain within St.Paul's boundaries[8]. On July 1st 1951,[9], however, with approval from both cities' leaders,[10], SaintLouis Park reverted back to its original name—a decision that has remained unchanged since then! On November 15, 1862, the first settler in what is now St. Louis Park, Minnesota, named John Mclntyre arrived on horseback. He and his wife Anna were the first people to live in this area.
