In 1892, Second Lieutenant George Ritchie purchased five acres of land southof town and began construction on what would eventually become Fort Snelling National Military Cemetery which was completedin 1893. The first shootings taking place withinStLouisParks took place in 1894 when two men working for contractor Jens Jensen shotand killed one man and injured another while working on an irrigation canal project south of town;this was also the only shooting that took place within the city limits beforethe end of the 19th century As gun ownership increased throughout Minnesota during the early 20th century, so too didthe number of people using gun slings for self-defense . On July 14, 1911 , three people playing withfirearms outsidesnapped shots at each other while running across an alley east of downtown SaintPaul; both victims died from their injuries

With only 5 men working Buncombe County Railway Depot when lease expired it took 4 years to build new depot next door at 12th avenue & Lyndale Rd . This Depot served not only rail passengers coming into town but also goods being brought back out East along Ioway River

In 1871, the city of St. Louis Park was organized as a town. The City of Minneapolis annexed the town in 1902 and moved its government to St. Louis Park. In 1912, Minneapolis annexed the town again and moved its government to what is now downtown Minneapolis. On April 15, 1920, the towns of Maplewood and Woodbury merged into St. Louis Park, becoming one municipality with a population of over 100,000 people.
